"I'm bored." Marshall groaned and slumped further into the couch.
"How can you be bored? We've been polishing these swords for the past hour or so! Look how shiny they are!" Fionna gushed as she held up the weapon she was polishing.
Marshall replied with a roll of the eyes before getting up from his spot on the couch.
"Why don't we put the swords to good use and go fight some monsters?"
"I... guess we could do that!" Fionna replied, waving around the sword excitedly.
It didn't take the two too long to get ready before they were out of the treefort and on the hunt for some monsters to fight. Though Fionna quite nervous that something bad would happen again, considering how Marshall turned into a human the last time they decided to go adventuring, she figured that nothing worse could happen to the two of them.
Oh, but boy was she wrong.

"UGH!!! WHERE DID ALL THESE CHUDS COME FROM?" Fionna yelled as she swung her sword around in the dark cave, attempting to ward away the creatures from further injuring her.
"Like the heck I know!" Marshall replied, his voice a bit out of breath.
Fionna grit her teeth as she continued to swing her sword around until she suddenly felt the hilt of her weapon slip out of her hands.
"Man!" She cried out, now resorting to her fists as the Chuds continued to clamber along the walls and snap at her arms.
"Marshall!" She yelled out as her fist connected to one of the creature's jaws.
There was no response, which immediately struck fear into the girl's heart.
"Marshall!" She yelled out again as she whipped her head around in an attempt to find the male.
"MARSHA-"
Suddenly, the female felt something jump onto her back and could hear nothing but a horrid hissing fill her ears. It wasn't long until a sharp, burning pain filled her arm and she realized that the Chud had bit her.
"ARRUAAGH!!" She screamed and began to wildly spin around while swatting her arms at the creature on her back before finally falling down onto her knees.
"Don't touch her!" Fionna heard another familiar voice yell through the darkness before feeling the creature fall off her back.
"You okay, Fi?" Marshall knelt down next to the girl and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Yeah..." She breathed heavily and tried to distract herself from the stinging pain in her arm. Stupid Chuds... stealing her sword and even having the audacity to bite her...
"But don't worry about me, we've got to get out of her-"
"AAAAAGGH! WHAT THE FLIPPIN... UUUuughh... son of a...."
Fionna felt Marshall's arm slip off of her shoulder and heard his body collide into the ground. In that moment, she could feel the color drain from her face and the fear bubble up into her throat.
"MARSHALL!" She screamed and blindly searched for his body.
The moment her fingers could feel the fabric of the male's shirt, she dug her hands underneath Marshall's unconscious body and lifted him up into her arms.
Grunting and stumbling just a bit, she continued onwards and made her way out of the cave as quickly as possible while trying to avoid the remaining Chuds.
Upon exiting the cave, Fionna winced as a heat beat down on her back and the sun momentarily blinded her. She really needed to get out of this desert and back to safety.
It was a mistake coming to the Desert of Doom without Cake. She had forgotten that Marshall and her were just two humans that, despite having the will to put up a decent fight, had no magical abilities to help themselves.
After finding refuge behind the remnants of a whale's skeleton and away from the blazing heat, Fionna carefully set Marshall down onto the sandy dunes.
"Marshall..." She whispered and pulled off her hat.
Tying the white fabric around the wound on her arm, she knelt back down next to his body and checked for any signs of severe injuries.
Cuts and bruises already scattered his face and wherever his skin was exposed, but it didn't seem like he had any other external wounds. But without the former vampire's ability to heal, it was best if she assumed the worst and got help as soon as possible.
Feeling a mixture of relief and worry, Fionna heaved the boy into her arms and continued her trek to the only place she knew would be safe for the both of them: the Candy Kingdom.
Maybe PG could also help figure out why Marshall had turned human and if there was any way he could turn back into a vampire.
Biting back the urge to start crying, Fionna trudged through the sandy desert and made her way to the Candy Kingdom.
"I will save you."
