We were sat awkwardly in front of my parents, I was biting my fingernails down to the bone. I didn't know what to say, I mean, How do you explain why your dad walked in on you asleep with another boy? The worst part is I hadn't even come out yet. "Jasper Wilkins you answer me right this minute." My mother demanded.

"Well, um, you see," I started, scattering my brain for the right words. "Well you know how I write and stuff?" I said and they nodded slowly. "Well I kind of wrote about him, and he like, came to life?" I tried, my mother furrowed her eyebrows.

"Jesus Jasper, you'd think for a boy as smart as yourself you could come up with a lie that actually sounded even a little bit true."

I sighed in frustration. "It's not a lie, look." I said and made my way over to my desk where my little book was sat and I picked it up, looking for a page about Miles and handed it to them.

"See, that page was dated months ago." I said as they looked over the pages. My father looked over at Miles expectantly. "Boy, what do you have to say about this?" He asked sternly.

"It's true, Sir." Miles stated confidently.

"I need a fuckin' beer." My dad grumbled out.

"Well, um, Jasper?" My mother asked nervously.

"Yeah?"

"So are you, like, gay?" She mumbled and I let out a groan. "This is not how I planned on coming out..." I muttered

"Well yeah, I am. Is that okay?" I asked nervously. She grinned and attacked me in a warm hug. She let out giggles that turned to laughter. "Well of course it is!" She yelped. "I've always wanted a gay son! We can go shopping together and look for cute boys! This is great sweetie!" She yelled excitedly.

"Lord give me strength." I muttered under my breath as I looked over at Miles who was visibly cringing. As my mother peeled away from me, she looked at Miles then back at me. "As for him," She pointed at Miles. "We have to find out if this is like a gypsy curse or something."

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Mom, I don't think-" I began but she cut me off. "Jasper, don't question me. Those things are real."

And then she and my father left my room. I looked over at Miles and all he said was, "Your parents are fucking weird." And I laughed in agreement.
