The ringer's buzz echoed through the room, interrupting us. I got up, stopped the ringer, walked to the oven, and took out the cake.
Resting it on the chulla, I sat down and moved the queen.
We continued playing chess while letting the cake cool. After thirty minutes, the cake was cut and plated. I poked the fork into the cake and placed the ceramic bowls on the dining table.
Maan sat adjacent to me. I like this nickname. It's cute.
He took a bite of the cake.
I asked. "How is it?"
"Really good!" He grinned, taking another huge bite.
"Thanks. This is the first time I baked something."
I took a bite, reluctantly. It was delicious.
"Why are you wearing a kurta in this heat?" he asked.
The spoon that was about to enter my mouth halted. "Because it's made out of cotton and it'll help me cool down in this heat," I answered.
"Fair enough."
We both continued to chat as we polished our bowls.
I looked out of the balcony window. The sun was setting, disappearing slowly. The pink hue with the flock of birds flying through made it even more beautiful.
"You should go home," I said, turning to Maan.
"Yep."
Getting up, we both walked over to the foyer. He put on his shoes. While I look at him. Once he did his shoe laces he got up and looked at me. I didn't want him to leave. I never felt like this before. He closed the distance between us and hugged me.
"Let's go on a date tomorrow!" he murmured.
I circled my arms around his torso. "Sure. Text me the place." I pecked his lip, shyly. "Bye."
His ears turned red. Opening the door, he looked over his shoulder at me and said. "Bye."

My shift got over. We planned to go on a shopping date after our shift was over. I pulled into the mall's parking lot and found a parking spot.
Exiting the car, I enter the mall through the automatic double doors and spot Abhimanyu who waved at me.
My steps halted as I neared him. "Hi!"
"Hey." He grinned.
"Where should we go first?" I asked.
"I don't know. You choose." He shrugged.
We went to a clothing store and I picked out new tops. He picked out some shirts and we both tried them on. (separately)
We went to the till and checked out the items. I took out my card to pay, but before I could he tapped his card. The transaction was processed and the receipt was spit out. The cashier took out the receipt and shot his arm out to hand it to one of us. I took the receipt mumbling a small thank you and we exited the shop with Abhimnayu carrying our shopping bags.
"You should've let me pay," I said.
"I wanted to pay, Aarohi. You can pay next time."
"Okay." I took a look at the receipt. The prices are rising day by day.
As we were walking, my eyes went to a small shop where two girls were testing out some perfume. I'm running out of my perfume.
"Abhimnayu," I said out loud. He stopped and turned to look at me. "Yeah."
I pointed towards the shop and said, "I need a new perfume. Let's go to the perfume shop."
I pushed open the door, holding it for him to enter. A lady at the desk stood up and said,
"Welcome to Aapna Perfume. You can create your own perfumes here."
Woah.
I glanced at Maan and asked, "Do you want to?"
"Totally. How about we both create a perfume for each other?"
"Sure."
We both sat at a table where all the fragrances were laid out. We both put drops of the fragrances on the testers and smelled them. I picked out three fragrances I liked. Mixing the three up, I applied it to my wrist to see if it smelled good. I really liked it and told them to make this perfume.
Abhimanyu was still testing out his. A few moments later, he was done as well.
Both our perfume bottles were ready. This time, I paid for them. And we headed out.
"What fragrances did you choose?"
He stopped and smiled saying, "Fragrance that describes you."
"And how am I described?"
We both moved to the side to let other people go.
"Let me explain."
I was curious now.
He took out the perfume he made for me and sprayed it on the sides of my neck and whispered in my ear! "Hot."
Butterflies erupted in my tummy as I breathed in the smell of musk, vanilla, and cashmere.
"You don't know how seductive you look." He whispered.
I had probably turned into a tomato.
"What fragrances did you pick for me?" He asked.
"Sandalwood, cinnamon and lavender."
He put the perfume in the bag and we both headed to the food court. There we chose a spot to sit down and ordered food. Once we were done, we both headed home.
. . .
Abhimanyu and I entered my flat. I set down the bags on the coffee table and ran towards him to hug him, and then kissed him. His lips moved against mine, as I sucked on his upper lip. My hand clutched his shirt.
After breaking the kiss, I hugged him.
Some rang the doorbell. I fixed my appearance and opened the door and immediately closed it.
Kairav Bhai was on the other end of the door.
"It's Kairav Bhai. Hide."
He agreed and hid behind the sofa. I opened the door and hugged Bhai.
As Bhai reciprocated the hug, he asked, " Why did you close the door on me?"
"I was just shocked. I didn't know what came to my mind."
"Ok."
Abhimanyu peeked out from behind the sofa. I gestured for him to go.
He crawled out and lived towards the door. Bhai was about to look in his direction when I screamed. "Chipakli." And pointed to the wall opposite the couch.
He started looking at the wall while Abhimanyu went out. The door shut with a click.
Bhai turned towards the door and asked, "Did you hear that?"
"No Bhai."
"I can't find the chipkali anywhere," he said out loud.
"You're right. I think yeh mera vaham tha."
"Wow." he rolled in his suitcase to the living room and sat down while I brought him a glass of water.
He took a swig and said, "main kuch business meeting me liye aya hoon. And I'll be staying here for a week."
