"Kairav and Anisha, chalo, rings exchange karo," Mimi said, standing beside me, her stick in her hand.

(Come on. Exchange the rings.)

Bhai and Bhabhi exchanged polite smiles. Bhai plucked the ring from the tray I held and slipped it onto her finger. Claps echoed through the living hall.
Bhabhi took the ring Nishtha was holding and made Bhai wear it. More claps followed.

My eyes drifted toward Abhimanyu. He was smiling, but it didn't look real. Then I looked at Akshara.

Sigh.

At least she was happy. And my niece was playing with her hair. Aww.

I walked up to them.

"I'll carry her. You both take some rest," I said, holding out my hands. My cutie pie made grabby hands immediately. I picked her up and asked, "Are you tired, baby?"

Abhira hummed and rested her head on my shoulder.

"You sleep, okay? Massi is here." I kissed her temple. She started snoring softly.

The DJ began playing music and Neil, the host, invited the couple onto the dance floor.
Anisha and Bhai walked to the stage. The lights dimmed, the spotlight focused on them, and they began their dance.

Once they were done, the lights slowly brightened and applause rose again. Bhai and Bhabhi stepped aside, still smiling.

Neil bounded back to the mic. "And now... family performances! First up, the groom's friends!"
Hoots rippled across the room. I laughed along with the groom.

I adjusted Abhira on my shoulder. She was fully asleep, her tiny fists curled against me. Akshara reached over and gently brushed a stray curl off her daughter's forehead.

After the groom's friends finished, it was the bride's friends' turn. Damn, they danced well—the grooves and turns were on point.

Neil came to the stage again.

Next up were Akshara and me.

"Please welcome the groom's sisters on the stage," he announced and went back to the audience.

I handed Abhira to Jiju and walked to the stage.
The spotlight shone on us, casting a warm glow. We took our positions and began dancing just as we'd practised.

By the end of the performance, my eyes spotted Maan first. This time, he was smiling—really smiling. His eyes held a spark of delight, as if he'd been smiling through my smiles throughout the dance.

As the claps continued, he flashed me a superb hand sign and I smiled. I glanced at Akshara, and she whispered, "Why is Abhimanyu making a superb hand sign?"

"We're good friends, Behen," I whispered back.

"Oh, that's amazing. I genuinely feel guilty for what I did in the past," she said, her mouth turning down.
