A SIGH ESCAPED SOLEIL'S LIPS for what felt like the millionth time that day. The sun was hot, bugs were swarming her, and Star was getting on her absolute last nerve.

"Star can you please get off your butt and stop acting like this? I would love to go inside, you just need to finish practicing," Soleil pleaded, standing over her sister who was lying in the grass.

"I'm not good at these new spells. Why can't I just stick with the narwhal blast? Besides, I don't see you practicing your magic," Star grumbled.

"This is not about me Star. Mom and Dad didn't send me here to work on my magic."

"Star, there are other spells in your book. You need to learn them all," Glossiryk reasoned, the tiny blue creature floating by on a donut.

     "Yeah, but—"

"Oh, oh, oh, Star look," Glossiryk cut off the blonde, pointing to a page in the book with a wide grin. "This one's got pictures. Can we do it?"

"That one has a lot of steps."

"Star," a voice scraped from behind the book. "Can you just do the spell please? This book is so heavy."

Soleil quirked a brow, peaking over to see Marco crouched on the floor, holding the spell book up. She gasped, immediately moving to take a side on her back so the book wouldn't absolutely crush him.

"Why didn't you say anything before? I would've helped sooner," she grumbled as the weight shifted to her shoulders.

"Sol, this book is too heavy for you, I've got it seriously," Marco protested, trying to take it back.

"It's half as heavy if we both hold it," Soleil snapped, effectively putting an end to the argument.

"Alright," Star groaned, dragging herself off the grass. "What do I gotta do?"

Glossiryk pointed to the first picture, "Start with the first one!"

Star attempted a half-assed version of each picture, calling out for a Warnicorn stampede, only to get one baby Warnicorn in return. Soleil rolled her eyes, knowing Star was going to chalk it up to her wand malfunctioning rather than her lack of effort.

     "See? I can do magic."

"But Star," Glossiryk began carefully. "That's a single Warnicorn. A stampede is many Warnicorns. I think somebody needs to get back to studying her spell book."

Underneath said book, the teenagers were struggling to keep up the leather bound pages. Although, it was admittedly a lot easier with two people.

"You know what Glossiryk? I'm done with the book for today," Star smiled, pulling the book off of Soleil and Marco. "Come on guys, let's go have fun with our friends."

     "But, Star, I really think—"

"Oh," Glossiryk interjected, a harsh look on his face. "I thought we were friends."

"What?" Star whipped around, immediately noticing his hurt expression. "Oh, no, no, no! We're friends, that's not what I meant, I just don't have fun with you."

Soleil watched the exchange with wide eyes. Glossiryk had always been her friend, especially when Star was going through her rebellious phase. She couldn't imagine saying something like that to him.
