TW: Guns, Smoking, Violence
***
1 year before Sweetheart Chapter 1: Dead
"Stay here, ok? I'll quickly head out, arrest this guy and come home." Eun tells the boy who pouts from their shared bed. The couple had just been enjoying their movie night when the elder received a call about a burglary a couple blocks over.
"Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" Jisung asked, starting to set aside the popcorn.
Eun flashes him a smile as he stands, shoes hastily done up and hair messy from how quickly he'd dressed.
"No baby," he began, walking over to his boyfriend, hand coming to rest on his cheek.
"It's probably just some stupid teenager with his dad's gun." Leaning down, he gently pecks Jisung's forehead and straightens once again.
"See you when I get back!"
"Bye!" The younger waved from the bed, boba eyes illuminated by the glow of the TV screen.
Eun left after swiping his keys and wallet from the bench, locking the door quietly behind him before heading to his car and starting it up.
The drive was slow until he reached the area, where many people stood outside a tobacco shop.
When Eun pulled up, everyone parted ways like the sea, allowing him to rush into the store, gun in hand.
What he found was rather unexpected.
Instead of the short, skinny teenager he'd thought would be shaking holding the gun, was a man, taller than him, holding a gun almost lazily at a store worker who already looked like he'd taken a good beating.
His hood was pulled up, and a cigarette was lit in his free hand.
"Drop the gun and put your hands up!" He announced loudly, grabbing the stranger's attention.
He turned, dark, piercing eyes barely glancing at him before he let out a sigh.
"Eun, I suppose?" His voice was low, tone bored, as if he didn't want to be there at all.
Annoyed, Eun grabbed his wallet and opened it, holding up an official badge he'd gotten in recognition for saving the city so many times.
"Drop your weapon, and put your hands in the air, or I shoot!" The stranger smirked at the item.
"Pretty boy you have there, what's his name?" Eun's expression morphed to confusion as he looked at his own badge for a moment before his gaze drifted to a photo below it of Jisung.
"Don't talk about my boyfriend like that!" He pocketed the wallet, squeezing the gun tighter as rage made him grit his teeth.
This only brought a look of amusement to the burglar's face as he took a painfully long drag from the cigarette, causing the silence to stretch uncomfortably.
"Just from looking at him I can tell he could do so much better than you." The words cut Eun deep, planting their seeds in his garden of insecurities. His eyes widened, but his purpose remained strong.
He stepped forward, pressing the gun against the man's temple.
"Put down your gun and raise your hands." He said again through gritted teeth.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." The man turned to him fully as he exhaled smoke, raising his arms slowly, as if he was surrendering.
"And why would that be?" Eun taunted, cocky smirk from ear to ear.
Before he knew it, the butt of the cigarette had been plunged into the side of his forearm, making him let out a blood curdling scream as the gun was ripped from his hand. His body was thrown into the wall nearby as the stranger twisted again, shooting the store clerk he'd just been threatening in the head.
As he was about to turn back, Eun jumped up, grabbing his knife and wrapping his arms around the thief's neck, pressing the weapon to his throat. The stranger wasted no time and flipped him over his back, sending the hero's blade clattering against the tile as he hit the floor.
In a daze, he blinked slowly to see the butt of a gun just a few inches in front of his face. His arm throbbed as he slowly reached over for his knife again.
"You gonna shoot me now or what?" He asks the thief, fingers wrapping around the handle.
"Tempting offer, but I'll save it for later." Eun suddenly jerks his arm, the knife shooting up, aiming for the man's neck. Before it can reach it's target, the stranger grabs his wrist as he lets out a sigh.
"You just don't learn, do you?" He mutters, ripping the knife from his grip and dropping his arm.
"Now, I'm going to leave you alive and head out the backdoor. You will wait here for two minutes, then you can leave. Follow me and you will lose everything."
Eun narrows his eyes, but doesn't say anything. In silence, the thief stands and heads for the door, swiping a packet of cigarette as he goes.
As soon as it slams shut, the hero pounces up and follows as he pulls his spare knife from his pocket and bursting through the door, only for a bullet to fly past his head, almost grazing his cheek.
In shock, he stares, seeing the man at the end of the alley, gun smoking and pointed at him.
"You should've listened." He says simply, smirk tugging at his lips, before swiftly pocketing the gun and disappearing around the corner.
Eun shakes off the near-death experience and races ahead, only to be met with an empty street lit only by a single lamppost.

Thanks everyone again, this might sound silly but writing on here has helped me through so much and I'm so glad to have built a platform like this.
