Shutting my eyes, I try to regain my self-control and dig myself out of the memories of my ugly past, resurrected so easily by one look from Malfoy senior. I recall his expression from moments earlier, just before he'd wretched the door open and kicked Dobby through it; a mixture of momentary surprise and annoyance, followed imminently by a sneer of malice and disgust. It was with that look that a horrifying realisation smothered me; it wasn't over. The certainty that Mr Malfoy would make my past difficult to forget and hold it against me in any number of ways made my hands shake, with bile raising bitterly in my throat. However, I had something against him too... I'd watched him kill a man.
"Robyn?" Calls Dumbledory, pulling me back to the present – for a moment I look through him, before focusing my eyes and meeting his gaze directly, undaunted now by this action. "Might I enquire how you know Mr Malfoy?" A memory of Malfoy using the cruciatus curse on me and a string of laughter following flashes across my mind, I forcefully repress a shudder.
"We've met before." I tell him shortly, and then curse myself for being rude, "I'm sorry Professor.... I'm just tired and if you don't mind, I think I'll skip the feast, I'd rather go to bed." Wise and shrewd as he is, Alby doesn't push me – wishing me good night and hoping I sleep well, which seemed unlikely but I appreciate the words all the same...

For the rest of the summer term Hogwart's came alive in way I'd never thought possible, it took my breath away; a blazing sunny haze fell over the castle and it's inhabitants, illuminating the tranquillity and true heart of the place. I never wanted to leave, but as the term came to an end I knew the decision wasn't mine to make; I'd already resolved to find a small, cheap flat in London and do my best to learn everything else there is to learn about the magical world, maybe even come back and visit Hogwarts if I could...besides, Harry was here, and if he were to face any danger, I'd be coming back anyway.
I pondered all of this while stood at the top of the Astronomy tower, which I'd learnt was the tallest tower of Hogwarts, located at the front of the castle and perfect for star gazing at night time. If you walked around the parapet, it provided the most amazing views – not only of the whole castle but also the incredible surrounding forests, mountains and the loch. At the current time, it was helping clear and focus my mind as I leaned on the wall and let my mind wander.
"You know..." Sounds an amused voice from behind me. Gasping, I jump and spin around, my heart beating erratically from the scare. Dumbledory raises an eyebrow as he moves to stand next to me, his Jesus powers know no bounds...mental note; add appears out of nowhere to list of powers... "This area is out of bounds except for lesson time."
"I– I'm sorry, I didn't know..." yet to my relief, Dumbledory's eyes are twinkling mischievously as I apologise. "Wait, how did you know I'd be up here?" I question suspiciously, then again if he can appear out of nowhere, clearly knowing everything isn't a stretch for him.
"Argus Finch, the caretaker, came and told me," Alby looks over his half-moon spectacles at me, probably to make me feel guilty about putting a spell on the guy's cat's paws to give them roller blades so it went rolling uncontrollably into walls and other inanimate objects – in my defence, it's a creepy cat and really shouldn't have been stalking me. Totally worth the entertainment value as well. I shrug at Dumbledory and turn back to the sights; no way was I going to feel guilty about pranking the cat, there weren't any eye witnesses to prove it was me so.... "Now, what brought you up here, I wonder?"
"Life without Hogwarts, I came up here to get some perspective I guess..." I scowl at the wistful tone of my voice. Jeez, I sound desperate. "I can't imagine leaving."
"Indeed. We must all leave at some point..." He muses, gazing out of the loch. We both watch as the sky bursts into streaks of incredible pinks, yellows, oranges and purples as the sun burns its last rays for the day; I cherish the warmth of it on my face and shut my eyes to savour the feeling. I wonder when I will ever feel as at peace as this again?
"It's been an...interesting, year. You're students are very lucky, this is an amazing place. I'm going to miss it."
"Perhaps, for a short time...." He gives me a wink before sliding his gaze past me to over my shoulder. "I believe that owl would like your attention." I turn, surprised that an barn owl had landed next to me and I hadn't noticed; clutched in its beak, a letter. The address read,
Miss.Robyn
Top of the Astronomy
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Scotland
"Evans," I mutter as I gaze at my name in print. My locket warms around the word as I say it."Pardon?" Enquires Dumbledory, watching my expression.
"My last name, it's Evans. Robyn Evans." I tell him although the words were not consciously mine, but the feelings emitting from my locket assured me of their truth. When Dumbledory remains silent, I look up at him – his expression is thoughtful and there seemed to be new questions filling his eyes as he x-rayed me for the answers. Uncomfortable at the examination, I look back at the letter and gasp; my new last name had now joined my first; now reading, Miss R. Evans, sending and strange yet pleasurable thrill up my spine. I smile, before turning it over and running my fingers over the wax Hogwarts crest used to seal the envelope.
Slowly, secretly afraid the letter might burst into flames, I release the seal and pull out the contents.

Deputy HeadmistressI gape at Dumbledory, "Is this real?!" Disbelief prevented my believing this could be true, good things like this just didn't happen to me! Dumbledory nodded his head, smiling. "But..am I...am I good enough to attend?" I ask nervously.
"Of course! Now, about the equipment you will need. Do you know where to go?" I shake my head, incredulous. "I can accompany you. The school also has a fund able to assist you with buying your things-"
"Er, Professor..." I interrupt shyly, led on my another surge of warmth from my locket and its guardians. "I think I might have money, a vault at Gringotts?" as I say this, I subconsciously grip my locket protectively, the Jesus man misses nothing about the action; he nods, with-holding his curiosity and accepting my answer without question.
"I see... Have you any accommodation plans at present?" I shake my head nervously. "A friend of mine at the Leaky Cauldron has very kindly reserved a room for you. You may spend your summer there; shall we?" He motions for us to leave the tower, I pause momentarily to watch the remnants of the dying sun fall below the horizon line and then turn to accompany Professor Dumbeldore to my new beginning...
I AM GOING TO BE A STUDENT OF HOGWARTS COME SEPTEMBER!
