Chapter 2 ~ Performing in Public

"Please?" I beg my mum. "Please please please! I mean, this might be the last time I see him.. Even though we have 4 more days till we move. Plus I think I promised him."

She sighs. "Fine, but we're coming to watch." She gives in.

"We?"

"Your dad, Jake, and I." She says.

"Oh okay. I'm gonna go get ready and I'll text you where." I sprint up the stairs and change into my regular day clothes. I grab my phone and shove it in my pocket. I run downstairs and put on my converse and kiss my mum and dad bye before I go to Luke's place. Calum said to meet them there.

As I run, a little girl stops in front of me. She seemed 5, holding an old teddy. I stop right before I run into her. She has old, ripped clothes, messy hair, dark circles around her eyes. She seemed scared.

"Hi.. Are you okay?" I go down to my knees.

"I- I'm lost. And hungry. I can't find my mummy or daddy and people have been ignoring me for.. 3 days." Her voice shakes.

"Um.. I can buy you food and go to the police to help you find your mum." I say.

"NO! NOT THE POLICE." She screams. I shush her.

"Shh shh, okay. I won't go to the police." I pick her up and go to Roberto's. I order a small pepperoni pizza and share it with her. "What's your name and how'd you get lost?" I ask.

"I'm Lilly and I lost my mummy because I followed a man who gave me candy and this bear. Then he left me in a dark place." I felt really bad for her.

"Don't worry, we'll find her. Do you like music?" Maybe she would be in the small crowd of our performance.

"Yes." She Lilly answers. After we finish eating the pizza and drinking our water, I carry this little girl to Luke's house.

"How old are you, Lilly?"

"4." She holds up 4 fingers. I smile at her cuteness and continue walking to Luke's house. When I get there, I see Calum looking theough the window. He sees me a opens the door, surprised to see a little girl in my hands.

"Are you babysitting?..." He questions.

"No, I found her on the streets. She was lost." I put Lilly down. "She's gonna watch our performance."

"Okay, well we're about ready. Everything's in Liz's car." If you don't know who Liz is, that's Luke's mum. I walk inside Luke's place holding Lilly's small hands.

"Hey Jess!" Mikey, Ashton, and Luke greet, hugging me. They see the little girl holding my hand.

"Who's that?" Mikey looks at Lilly.

"Lilly, she's lost and she's gonna watch our performance. Okay? Okay." Liz comes out with her purse and camera.

"Ready?" She doesn't question Lilly but looks at her.

"Yep!" We all go into her car, Lilly sits in my lap.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"The park benches." Liz says. I text my parents.

My family is already there. They greet everyone.

"Nice to see you again!"

"You too!"

"Hi Jakey!"

"Hi Luke."

And that's how the greeting and stuff went. I also explain to my parents who Lilly was and how I found her while the boys gets their instruments from the car. Ashton sets his.. Drum box down and Mikey and Luke get the guitars. So the only one with vocal instruments are Calum and I. We sit on the bench while we start. Lilly's with my parents and Jake. I also told Mum to film with my phone.
