Chapter 7 ~ The Concert

I get ready for the 5 Seconds of Summer concert that's happening in an hour. I haven't met up with them yet but it's happening soon. I haven't told Rylie, she'll just beg to come with me.

"MUM!" I yell. Mum comes running upstairs.

"What? Did you break something?" She scans my room.

"No.. Gosh Mum, do you think I'm that reckless? But can you drive me to Rylie's? I'm done." I grab my phone.

"That's it? Why didn't you just come downstairs and ask?"

I shrug. "To far away?" Mum rolls her eyes.

"Okay, let's go. But is that what you're wearing?.." She looks at my outfit.

"Mum, this is a concert, not prom or whatever." I'm wearing a 5SOS shirt Rylie gave me and black ripped jeans.

"Alrighty, let's go." She heads downstairs and I follow right behind her. She grabs her keys off the kitchen counter and heads to the car.

"When can I start driving?" I ask as I close the car door.

"Never." Mum smirks.

"Ha, nice joke."

"That wasn't a joke." I turn my head to watch her. Her face looks dead serious until a smile slowly creeps up onto her face.

"Wow thanks." I play along.

"Anyways, you excited about the concert? I heard that.. Calum, Luke, Michael, and Ashton will be there." She hesitates to say Calum.. Odd. Did he do something wrong to this family?

"Yeah, they are. Infact, they're performing."

"They are?" She takes her eyes off the road for a second to look at me with a bright smile. "They've made it."

"What are you talking about?" I raise an eyebrow.

"Jess, they've made it. They've just.. made it." I see a twinkle in my mum's eyes.

"Were they like your sons?"

"I treated them like they were." She nods. "Do you remember performing out on the streets in Sydney with those boys?"

"I performed with them?" My eyes widen.

"Yeah, I'm guessing you forgot. I'll show you a video when you get home." Mum's huge smile is still plastered on her face.

"Okay.. Mum?"

"Yes?"

"Why can't I remember anything about when we lived in Sydney? All I can remember is going on the plane to Seattle. Did something happen?" My mum looks at me with sad eyes until they go back to watching the road.

"No." Is all she says. I decide not to say anything for the rest of the ride.

"Bye, see you at like.. Midnight!" I wave bye to my mum as I enter Rylie's house.

"OHMYGOSH JESS! I'M EXCITED, AREN'T YOU EXCITED?!" Rylie bounces around as we go to her room.

"Yeah, sure." I nod, giggling at Rylie's hyperness.

"EEEEEEKK!" She squeals.

"Well," I plop down on Rylie's bed. "What should we do while we wait?"

"Start heading out."

"But I just got here." I groan.

"But like.. I want to get to the seats early."
