Chapter 21
Before leading her to the altar, I’m still having second thoughts on whether to marry Camille, or not. I feel her lightly squeeze my hand which makes me look at her, then suddenly Alison’s face ghosted in my mind.
Alison...Alison.…Alison… I love Alison!
"I'm sorry Camille!" I apologize while letting go of her hand.
"What do you mean?" She asked, confuse by my action.
But I didn't answer; I walk past her and walk down the aisle. Gasp were everywhere, shock were marked on people’s faces while I jog down the aisle.
I hear Camille's voice calling out my name while chasing me down. She asked me to stop at least 3 times before I do, just two step away from the door.
"…Alex." she choke out breathless.
I was about to start walking again, cause I don't want to waste a second, but then Camille's hand were on my shoulder to stop me and make me look at her.
"Do you love her Alex?" She asked softly.
"How do yo-?"
But then she cut me. "I’ve seen you calling her many times. But do you love her?" she asked again.
"Yes." I sigh. Now that I truly know how I felt for Alison.
She give me a sad smile and said. "This is going to be hard for me." She pause, inhaling sharply. "But because I really, really do love you and if it will make you happy, I'm going to do the right thing then."
I stared at her blankly. I never really thought that she'll understand and just let me go easily like this.
"What are you still doing here." She chuckle softly. "Go get her tiger before she thought that were married." She said giving me an encouraging smile.
I quickly get out of the church, stumbling a couple of times down the stairs. I quickly get into the limo which is the one that drove Camille here. I told him to drive me to the airport as quickly as possible.
Booking for the very next flight to Los Angeles, which I'm going to wait for the next 8 hours.
For that 8 hours wait, I tried to contact Alison in every possible way over and over again until my flight was called. I didn't sleep on the 5 hours and 45 minutes flight to Los Angeles one because I keep thinking about Alison, and two I’m still thinking about her.
As soon as I was out at the front door of the airport, I quickly jump in to a cab that was just abandoned by a family, I told Alison's address to the driver and he drive away, I ask him to drive faster and his response was ' I can't sir, I'm going to get caught'.
The drivers pull over in front of Alison's house. I quickly payed the driver, letting him to keep the change.
I walk straight down towards the front door, I saw Lenny's car on the drive way. There was a light coming from a curtained window at the living room.
I stand in front of the door, straightening up my clothes, combing my hair with my hand and knock twice on the door, waiting for someone to answer it. After a few seconds no one seems to hear it so I decided to knock again, but before my knuckle could touch the wooden framed door it was suddenly flung backward, showing Molly with a puzzled looked.
She looked me up and down then asked. "Are you here to pick up Alison just to see you get married which is apparently happened to her already?" Her voice was cold.
I look down at myself and remembered that I forget to change and that I'm still wearing my wedding suit.
"No. I came here to talk to her." I assume her.
"Hey Molly! Who was that?" I hear Lenny's voice asked somewhere around the room.
"It's Troy! -I mean Alex!" She answered back. Then I saw Lenny walking to us.
"Hey Alex." He greeted me and I smiled back at him. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I came here to talk to Alison."
"She's right at the beach." He said while inviting me in.
I went in and the house looks different, all the furnitures were covered with white cloth over them. I looked over at Lenny, giving him a questioning look. I'm ready to ask him what's going on but then he answered my unasked question.
"Alison is moving in France with her parents. They brought her a space in Paris for her to have another franchise of the club and they want her closer to them." He explains.
"When?" I asked worriedly.
"Today. At 11 in the morning." He sighs.
"Where is she again?" I asked, desperate to see her now.
"At the beach."
I run down to the back door and found it open. I run out and saw Alison walking down the beach.
Carrying her shoes, her jeans where folded up to her knees, her hair blowing to her face while she slowly walks and looking out at the sea. I stared walking towards her slowly, dragging my shoes out of the sand from each step I take.
I saw her looked at my way then look back at the sea. I stop walking just a few feet away from her, trying to make an eye contact but she just continue to gaze out at the sea.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"You’re not answering my phone calls." I told her.
"Aren't you suppose to be having your honeymoon right know?" Her voice were flat.
"I came here to talk to you." I said.
"I forgot to say congratulation. Congratulation." She said she finally make an eye contact to me.
"I didn't get married, I back out from it."
"What! Why did you do that?!" she asked, suddenly angry. "Did you see what happened to me?" her voice were hoarse, her eyes filled with tears forming and continue to rumble about her past.
"I love you!" I said a little louder for her to hear over her rumbling.
"No you’re not!" She said back. Not the reply I was hoping to hear.
"I know that we're a complete stranger to each other, but we get to know each other because we live in a same house for almost five months, but the for the last couple of weeks the we shared, I felt something, something strong and somewhat unfamiliar; and then you left for a week and it somehow make it more stronger and as we shared our first kiss it became clear and I no longer can't fight it anymore." I said to her truthfully and it all comes from my heart.
I slowly jogged towards her, closing the space between us, as I crush my lips to her, kissing her passionately, making her feel my love for her. I threaded my fingers into her hair, pulling her in a closer and profound kiss as she wrap her arms around my neck and move her lips with me.
I pull away but our lips were still touching each other, breathing heavily as I whispered against her lips. "Will you marry me?"
"Yes!"She replied and kisses me again.
Sorry! It took me so long...
