Chapter 13
Two weeks went by quickly. Alison and I went to her club every 3 days, drowning ourselves with alcohol, we went surfing every 5 in the morning to catch the good waves, we went shopping until we can't even carry the bags, we watch every movie that we saw and many other things that we did for the past two weeks.
I was at my room, sitting on my bed, watching the ball hit the wall and bounce its way back to me, and throw it again to the wall and so on, until Alison burst in into my room.
"Hey! Oh sorry." I watch her go out and close the door.
Then a couple of seconds later I hear a knock.
"Can I come in?" She asked on the other side of the door.
"Yeah!" I replied, still playing with the ball.
I hear her open the door and slowly walk to my bed.
"What was that for?" I scoff at her.
"It's nothing." She said sitting beside me.
I put the ball down and look at her. She's beautiful in every single way. Her strawberry scented hair reaches my nose and I inhaled it.
"What's up?" I asked, focusing on her.
"Well, I have something for you." She said putting down some stuff on my bed.
"Here's a phone for you." She give me the phone.
"Lenny and Molly's number is in there and mine to. In case of emergency call any of the three of us, here's a credit card." She handed me a plastic rectangular shape card.
"If you want to buy something just use it and if you want to go somewhere just call this." She added.
She gives me a calling card. I look at her with a confuse expression.
"What's all of this for?"
"I'm going to San Francisco, there's a problem on one of my club in there. I have to take care of it."
"How long?" I try to hide the sadness in my voice.
"A week or so. I don't know how long it's going to take."
I look down, hiding my sad expression away from her, why does she have to leave?
"Can I come?" I asked hoping she would say yes.
"It's going to be boring there, while here you can do whatever you want." she explains.
"I don't mind." I insisted.
I look into her eyes and see her saw the sadness in my eyes.
"Oh come on Troy! It's just for a week. I'll be back as soon as I can. I promise." She assures me.
My inner instincts agree with her. You're not even his boyfriend or something like that, well not even close I suppose........
It was midday and it's so hot outside that I left a couple of my shirt buttons unbutton. Ali was getting ready. I help her carry her bag to her car. You don't have to go, I beg inside my head. We're now standing beside her car.
"Take care." I can't get over my sadness.
"You can go to the club if you want to." She told me while opening the car door.
She's ready to get in the car when I pulled her in a tight hug, I caught her off guard but then she returned it and hug me back. A couple of minutes later and I'm still hugging her, never letting her go.
"Er...um...Troy." She said, patting the back of my shoulder.
"Oh sorry." I'm having a second thought if whether I'm going to pull away or not, but I pull away anyway.
She gets into the car and started to pull out from the drive way, and into the street. I said and wave goodbye at her but she didn't see or hear it. I sigh, goodbye is one of the hardest word to say, don't asked me why cause I don't know too.
After Ali left, I was sitting on one of the hammock in the balcony facing the blue ocean, sparkling under the bright sun. Thinking about Ali, on how we get closer and closer to each other, each day that passed by. Thiers's something about her that makes her so important to me.
That night I take Ali's advice and went to the club. I didn't do much that afternoon. Without Alison for a week or more, well I'm sure be bored as hell.
I was sitting on one of the stool across the bar, staring at the bottle of Heineken in front of me, my hands clasp together circling around my drink, I'm more like a statue that carve on the stool.
There's something hiding behind my heart but I can't clearly tell what kind of feeling is it, but I have a good guess on that feeling, it's for Alison, even though I'm living with her for just nearly 3 and a half months now. There's just something about her that made me so warm and wobbly inside.
I took a sip from my drink and turn around so that I was facing the people on the dance floor, who are having a good time.
I took another sip from my drink. Someone then sit beside me and order a cocktail from the bartender, I didn't even bother to look at that person.
Suddenly I feel water dripping on my left arm, I turn my head to my left and saw a girl scramble down to her chair and grab her purse from the floor and sit back down on the stool beside me.
She grabs some tissue from her purse and hurriedly wipe my arm dry.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry..." She chanted.
"It's okay."
She finishes wiping my arm and look up at me. She has a surprise and excited expression on her face.
"OHMYGOD! Alex?" She shouted, and then she cover her mouth with both of her hands.
What's wrong with her? I asked in my head. I look behind me and there's no one there. I look back at her.
"Alex don't you remember me?" she put her both hands on my shoulder. She's referring to me then.
I remove her hands from my shoulder. "First of all my name isn't Alex..." I said in a very apologetically voice. "And miss-"
"Miss?!" She said cutting me off, surprise and angry was her tone. "Alex! Really! Miss?!" She shakes her head in disappointment.
"I'm sorry, but I don't really know you?" I'm scared right now.
"Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! At least be proud that we last for four years." She stand up, she slam the glass down that nearly shattered into pieces and walk away.
The music stop, ready to play another one but before the next music blast from the speakers I heard the girl mutter 'asshole' under her breathe. I should have just stayed at home.
As soon as I drank all the liquid from my Heineken, I went straight back home and went for a walk down at the beach.
I keep staring at the phone in my hand the Ali gave me this morning. I keep walking while staring at the phone.
I stop walking and take a sit on the sand. I push a button and the phone light up.
I look for the 'contacts' and only three names were save on it. I click Ali's name and her phone number came up.
Should I call her or not? But she only said that it's for emergency. I hesitate a few times before calling her.
Her phone rang three times before she pick it up. I didn't even let her say hello to me.
"Hey I miss you." I said in a rush but clearly enough to understand, then I hang up.
Thanks x
