Chapter 4

I watch the clock sitting beside me, ticking, filling the silent room. I haven’t notice that it’s now 2 in the afternoon even though I’m staring at the clock, when the doorbell ring twice, waking me up to my staring competition at my wall. I bolted out of my room, sliding down at the stairs handrail and beat Troy from opening the door.

“Surprise!” Lenny and Molly exclaim with enthusiasm. I look at them for a second, like I forget something and trying to remember it.

“Are− are we.....” molly said while pointing to herself then to Lenny then back to her then to Lenny again then back to her.

“Disturbing something?” she finishes her sentence.

Ha? I look at them and they were looking at something, I follow their gazes ‘till it landed to Troy who is buttoning up his shirt. So that’s what they’re thinking. How could they? I look at them and finally speaking, welcoming them with........

“What the hell!”I said it more like a statement. Why would they think like that? I ask again in my head.

“Well...because you seem not happy when you saw us. And is that how you great your friends?” Molly answers my unasked question.

“Hey! It’s not like that, I was just...surprise, okay.” I said walking towards them, and give them a big    long hug and unsurprisingly they hug me back.

“Ohhh...we miss you so much Ali.” They pulled back and look at me.

“Maybe you want us to come in?” Molly asks, looking at her finger nails and making a serious face. She’s teasing me again. I smack her playfully at her left arm. “Of course you can.”

They went in and me following at the back, closing the door behind me. They automatically sit on my white leather couch (they always do that) and Troy sitting opposite them. I sit next to Troy who had a nearly-dried-messy hair. Lenny and Molly stare at the both of us sitting together, but not too close. Lenny clear his throat and say.

“You have something to tell us, Aaali?” Lenny asked.

“Well....er, yes.” I sigh.

“i told you!” exclaimed Molly. I ignore her and continue.

I sigh again. I was shaking. Shaking? Why? I’m just going to tell them that Troy is that ‘passenger guy’ who i have to take care until the cops finds his family; he lost his memory because of me being a careless driver who drives to the other side of the road. The end.

“His the guy.” I said pointing at Troy. “Well technically he lost his memory, so I renamed him Troy.”

Okay its coming back again. Come on Alison get over him, his the past, the future is pretty good and your currently at the present were you forget about him. I took a long deep breath before continuing.

“Remember the last time we saw each other, when I explain everything.” I clasp my hand together making a small sound.

“yeah.” The both say at the same time.

“Well his the guy. The ‘passenger guy’.” I said in a low sad voice. I suddenly remember the ‘break up’, Nick and the wedding invitation.

“Anyway.” Molly sighs. “I have a story to tell you.”

“Uh-ha?”

“Lenny and me, we’re sitting on my couch with a jar of black coffee in front of us, staring at our cell phone.” Molly said with a huge grin on her face.

“Why?”

“Waiting for you to call.” She simply says.

“Really?” I asked looking at Lenny.
