*Present time*
The morning bell had already rung and I lost another chance to talk to Marc. The last time I talked to him was in March the day after my Chem final was over.
Those were probably the best times because I got to know more about him and got to learn about who he was.
After that Chem final, he totally stopped talking to me because he got a girlfriend. It made me sad, like no duh, seeing him make out with this girl.
But what made me feel more miserable was that he couldn't even realize that I maybe had feelings for him.
Shooing away the memories of last year, I went on to my other classes.
*Three classes later*
After making it through Calculus, English, and History, I decided to go to my friend Sherry's locker so we could go to lunch together.
She stood there at her locker, which was two feet away from Marc's, throwing large textbooks into her locker. She too looked weak and tired, as much as I was.
"Any luck with Marky Marky and his funky bunch?" she said.
"Not today. He was walking with his friends and I wasn't sure what to say either."
"Oh Nina, dear, just talk to this guy. You obviously really like this guy and haven't been able to concentrate on any other guy. Like look over there."
She turned around and pointed to a tall boy with glasses who was taking books out of his locker too.
"That boy has literally been staring at you since like the beginning of the year. There are other hotter and better guys out there other than Marc. Don't concentrate on him. He'll keep smooching Breona and being all googly with her."
"Yeah yeah," I said. She always gave me one of these speeches so it wasn't new to me so I just ignored her and kept talking.
"Where's Jasmine by the way?" I asked. Jasmine was my other best friend. She was so nice and I could practically tell her anything.
"There she is," Sherry said.
I finally saw Jasmine and waved to her.
"Hey guys!" Jasmine said.
"Yo."
"Hi," I said.
Once Sherry was done, we walked to the cafeteria. From behind me, I could hear the jocks coming with their loud hollering.
Marc's got to be with them, I thought to myself.
Casually, I kept walking, trying to not get distracted by Marc's close prescence.
I entered the cafeteria alongside Sherry and Jasmine. We went to our original table, the one in between the wall and windows, where you could get perfect view of what was going on everywhere. From the popular girls, to the emos, to the nerds, and of course the jocks.
Marc's table was two tables to our right. He sat in between Michael Watson and Jake Behring who were amongst the best sportsman in our school.
As I sat down and made myself comfty in my seat, I saw Marc enter the cafeteria alongside Joe Furre, an all-state wrestler. They were both laughing at something and seemed to be having a good time.
I decided to get up and go to the lunch line to grab myself an apple. There was a long line but I didn't mind and led myself to the end.
I could tell someone was entering through the other set of doors to stand behind me. Just then, I heard a deep voice call out to me.
"Hey Nina. Long time no see. How've you been?"
Sending chills across my back, I turned around to see who the familiar voice belonged to.
It was Marc. The familiar voice belonged to Marc.
