Confusion and Dilemmas

After lunch was over, I decided that I would keep going on with my day.

I kept going to my classes and tried to keep my mind far from the drama that occurred before.

After Chem, finally the bell rang and I knew I could finally go home.

As I walked to Sherry's locker to give her my English notes that she never got, I felt someone calling my name behind me.

"Nina! Nina! Wait a second!"

When I turned around I realized that the voice belonged to Alex. I knew Alex was a good boy and all but I didn't want to talk to him right now. Well really, I don't want to talk to any guy right now.

"Are you okay Nina? I heard that Breonna was going off at you?"

"Who told you that?"

"Well everybody knows."

"But who told you?"

"Do you know who David is?"

"Which one?"

"Jacobs."

"Him."

Of course I had a feeling he would say something. He loved spreading gossip and stupid rumors for attention. It was sad to see he started another rumor. But then again, I should've known because he was Marc's friend and that he would do this eventually.

"What else did he say?" I asked.

"That's all I heard. But is everything seriously okay. I've noticed you've been hanging out with Marc a lot lately. Is there a connection between the two?"

"Just don't worry about it. I need to go. My mom's waiting for me," I lied.

"Okay. But if you need to ever say anything, you can always share your problems with me, " he said giving a sweet smile. The glare in his glasses almost made his eyes twinkle. He then walked away.

Maybe he wasn't so bad after all, I thought.

I pushed the ideas aside and kept going on to my original destination.

After making several turns here and there, I finally reached Sherry's locker. I noticed she wasn't even there. I quickly texted her and asked where she was.

After waiting for five minutes and getting no text back, I went to her English room to see if she was there.

As I made my way to her classroom, I noticed there was a big group of boys huddled near a locker. When I closely scanned the group, I saw a number 7 jersey.

Marc!

I turned around rapidly and speed walked back to the main lobby. Before I could get too far, I heard Marc calling my name.

"Nina! Wait!"

Not knowing what I to do, my imnediate defense mechanism was to run. With all the energy I had left, I ran.

I was a former track star so I knew I could get far enough to get away from his sight. But even with that, I could hear footsteps coming behind me.

"Nina, wait a second!"

I ignored his voice and kept running. Eventually, I saw one of my teachers entering her room and I decided talking to her was the best way to escape from Marc.

I smoothly entered the classrooom making sure Marc wasn't able to see me going in.

"Mrs. Koola, I didn't get the worksheet for math. Do you have the classwork from today? I was at a lesson," I lied.

"Yes dear," she said, "I have it right here." She reached for the packets and picked one up.

"Do you need extra help? Today's lesson was quite hard. I have a few other kids coming late for help too."

I thought about it for a second, thinking if I should stay even though I understood the work. The best option was to kill some time until the coast was clear.

"Yeah. Can you go over what focus means and its properties?"

After thirty minutes of boredom, I decided I would go home. I silently walked to the main lobby and sat on the benches waiting for my mom to come.

To avoid making eye contact, I pretended I was texting on my phone. When I unlocked my phone, I finally received a response from Sherry.

From: Sherry

Hey Nina! Sorry my mom had to pick up my sister. I'll get the notes tomorrow.

My mom finally came and I made my way out the doors to the car. In the distance, I could see the football team practicing and the cheerleaders doing stunts.

Tomorrow's going to be a long day, I thought.
