Facing the Truth

After all that had happened the day before, I decided I would start over and try to forget about it. I woke up extra early around 6 and decided I would help my parents out at breakfast.

"Good morning Nina! Why are you up so early? You could've woken up at 6:30," my mom said.

"It's okay. I thought I could just sit down with you guys and just talk."

"Wow! She remembers we exist," said my father as he entered the kitchen.

"Dad, I've been talking to you. Chill out!"

"Oh really? What did we talk about last time when we had a conversation?"

"Um." I honestly couldn't remember which made everything much worst and seem so sad. "Fine I don't remember. But here I am so tell me now. What's up Dad?"

"The usual. Anyways I needed to talk to you and your brother about something important."

"What is it about?"

"Well, my boss is planning on moving me to another office in Smithtown."

"Wait why?"

"They don't have enough workers in the Smithtown office. That will either mean I will have to get an apartment somewhere near there or we all go together. Your mom feels we all should go together if we need to. I could manage staying alone but it can get quite hectic trying to pay all the tax and stuff."

"So what do you exactly mean?"

"We may need to move. "

"What?!"

"I know it's a little unexpected but that's the deal. I'm just waiting for the last word from my boss. Nothing is for sure but that is the plan for now."

"How's that fair? How come you never told me about this before?"

"I tried to find a good time but you were always busy working or tutoring that boy."

"Oh my god. What's going to happen with school? My friends? Everything?"

"I'm still unsure Nina. But just keep this in the back of your mind."

"This is so complicated."

"Nina, we could've told you earlier. It's fine. Hopefully everything works out and we won't even need to worry about all this. My boss will hopefully just let me stay here. There are plenty of other workers who can go there. Don't think about it for now."

Like bringing up something so serious can be forgotten so soon, I thought to myself.

"Okay."

I finished up my pancakes and ran up to my bedroom. For about ten minutes straight, I just sat there on my bed thinking about what would happened next.

Will I ever be able to see my friends again? Will I make new friends there? Are the people nice there? Will my life completely change?

Soon I got up and saw that my ride, Jasmine, was here. Silently, I left my house not saying a word to my parents on the way out.

I got to school early and decided I would clean up my locker since it was a mess. I really didn't care anymore about Marc and what his girlfriend had to say because I had more issues in life right now.

Don't need these paper. Don't need that permission slip. Why do I still have this? I thought to myself.

My thoughts were quickly interrupted by Alex's presence.

"Hey Nina."

"Hey."

"What's up?"

"Trying to clean up my messy locker."

"Wow. Wait why do you still have this permission slip? This field trip happened like a few weeks ago. Come on, Nina!" he jokingly said.

"I know. I was supposed to go but I forgot to get it signed."

"Silly Nina!"

"How am I silly?"

"Your so forgetful."

"I guess so."

"So anyways, are you going to the winter dance?"

"Wait when is that happening again?"

"Three weeks from today."

"Really? Seems so far." Silently, I thought to myself, I won't even be here by then. I'll probably be moving away to stupid Smithtown.

"Yeah. I want to go but I don't even know who's going. If none of my friends are going, then there's no point of me showing up."

"I don't know yet. I may go if I feel like it but nothing is for sure as of now."

"Okay that's cool. I'm pretty sure Jasmine is going."

"Yeah. She loves her parties," I joked.

"Well anyways if you do plan on going, just let me know."

"Okay. It sounds good."

"Okay. I need to go now to my class. My teacher is so mean. Can't get late."

"Yeah. Get there fast. I'll see you around."

"Bye!"

"Bye!"

Why was he so curious about me going or not?

Pushing my thoughts away and giving them no heed, I continued cleaning my locker.
