New guy

RHYDIAN

Maddy holds her arms around my neck and i secure mine around her waist preventing her from falling. The light above blinds me for a second when we reach the top but then i see the outline of Jana and others in her pack. Jana reach's for Maddy and pulls her up and in to her arms, then she holds out a hand which i take, when she tugs trying to pull me up a white hot streak of pain cuts through my shoulder causing me to loose balance on the sling and sway violently above the opening. My legs slip out of the harness and i only just grab on to the ledge with both hands, my shoulder burns in protest but i hold my weight long enough for Jana and another rather buff looking man to yank me to safety. Maddy stands a few meters away from me with another guy who was checking Maddy over for serious injuries, i hear her say she is fine and that he was a worry wart. The guy smirks and leans in, i don't realize what he was going to do until their lips connect and a hot poker skewers my heart. Maddy breaks the kiss and Jana puts a hand on my shoulder forcefully turning me to face her,

"Rhydian, you couldn't have expected her not to move on, i mean really you must have a girlfriend back in Stoney Bridge surely"

I sniff back tears and shake my head

"No Jana, no i didn't"

She tilts her head sympathetically and nods understandingly

I bite back, sadness, anger, love and disappointment before turning back towards Jana and smiling softly,

"Thanks for saving us Jana but i better get going"

"You can't just leave you just got here and plus you are hurt"

"I can't stay here"

I gesture to my shoulder 

"And this thing will heal soon enough"

Jana pulls me in for a hug and i hold her tight just wanting to break down and cry right here, but i don't, i stay strong and glance back towards Maddy before turning towards Stoney Bridge. Jana grabs my hand

"Be careful"

I nod and start walking, Maddy calls after me

"Wait!! Where are you going Rhydian?? You just got here"

I don't bother turning around but instead just quietly answer her

"I got here to save you and now you are fine and in capable hands"

I gesture towards her boyfriend

"I should get going"

Maddy hangs her head then looks at her boyfriend with sadness and confusion. Her boyfriend looks at me 

"Yeah maybe you should stay a while, you are hurt"

I scowl

"What would you care anyway"

He looked hurt and confused, i realized what i had done and shrugged

"I am sorry mate but i can't stay, you just don't understand maybe you should ask Maddy what happened between us and then you will understand"

He nods and looks at Maddy, I take the chance and begin to jog away from the group and back towards my life tears burning in my eyes, but i don't let them fall.
