I felt as though i had been sleeping for days, the darkness never seemed to end and to be honest i did not mind. How could i face Maddy and tell her what i did to Chris then after that tell her that i am still madly in love with her. How would you take that? I had dreamed about seeing Maddy again every night after she left, i imagined seeing her in the distance and running to meet her. We would embrace and things would go to the way they were. The way they were mean't to be. But it would be different now, there would be more questions needing to be answered and i feared i would not like the answers. The moment we shared together confirmed my hopes though, deep down Maddy still loved me and maybe we can get through this. 

My state of unconsciousness seemed to go on forever until eventually my eyes slowly flickered open. I could see the roof of a tent with wooden support beams across the top. A small fire blazed in the corner and a assortment of herbs littered wooden tables opposite the camping stretcher i was a top. My head pounded but i seemed to have healed from my other injuries thank god. I could hear movement outside and decided to investigate, painfully i stood and shuffled to the tent entrance. Intrigued but also wary i tuned in my wolfblood hearing trying to pick up a conversation. It was Jana and Maddy. Jana spoke in a hushed and worried tone which unsettled me.

"Maddy you need to tell him, he will find out eventually and it is better coming from you"

"Yeah and how do you think he will react huh? You saw how he handle seeing Chris and finding out about us. This will destroy him."

Jana was silent for a moment and then continued in a deadly serious tone.

"Maddy we have had out differences and at first i hated you but now i know who you are and what sort of person you are. I consider us friends i hope you do as well, so as i friend i am telling you to grow up and take ownership for your actions. I can see Rhydian loves you and because of that i know this won't change anything" 

Enough secrets. I could feel rage and confusion boil inside of me as i pushed open the tent flap and barged outside into the sunshine. Maddy and Jana turned to me and Jana smiled sadly, 

"I am glad you are alright Rhydian, what happened?"

I swallowed hard and looked at my feet not being able to meet Maddy's eyes.

"Chris... he....he didn't make it, we were so close and then the passage collapsed, he saved my life but got trapped underneath some ice, he wasn't going to survive, he asked me... he asked...he wanted to die quickly, he didn't want to suffer. I killed him, i put him out of his misery. I killed him"

Maddy's eyes teared up and she wouldn't meet my gaze, Jana looked serious and troubled. She put a hand on my shoulder and sighed. 

"You had no choice, it's not your fault"

But she was wrong, of course its my fault, he died saving my life. Maddy finally looked up the tears gone, she looked sad. Maddy took my hand

"Follow me"

I followed her through the woods into a secluded part far away from prying ears. She sat on a log and i sat beside her. Maddy turned to look at me and bit her lip nervously

"You heard the conversation Jana and i were having earlier didn't you?"

I looked ashamed at eavesdropping but nodded. She also nodded and sighed,

"Rhydian, i love you and i have always loved you, but you have to understand that things changed when we left, things were hard."

I nodded not entirely sure what she was getting at but i motioned her to continue

"Chris wasn't the love of my life or anything, in fact he was a rebound. I got closer to him as time went on but there was always an emotional distance between us. I could never love him but we did spend months together as more than friends."

I felt uncomfortable about talking about this and also a little angry but i still couldn't figure out why she was telling me this. Finally she looked me dead in the eyes and i could see tears forming once again

"Rhydian i am pregnant"
