Artemis POV:
The night is passing, and as I slept, I had hard time to sleep. I had started to get a small headache, which I usually don't get unless I'm changing into my roman form of Diana, but this was happening because of the cursed golden bow I had. Sometimes as I came to sleep in my palace, the bow would illuminate power and cause visions to go through my head, it could control both mortal and immortals. Some of them the past, as the legendary hooded figures of those Assassins. Or there would be visions of the future, one that would involve the Olympians and the Assassins. And once I clearly remember seeing a boy, high school aged, brown eyes, short black hair, and a faint scar on the side of his lip like Thalia's brother, Jason has. And I heard a faint anonymous voice saying "Desmond lives". This was the same thing tonight, except this time, a figure was standing on the hillside of Half-Blood hill. The figure was wearing a white dirty hoodie, grey cargo pants, black combat boots, and straps for his weapons and equipment. I stood in front of him with control of my body and mind, but he did not notice me. I could not see his face under the cloaked hood, but for a second there, I saw the shadowy face, of Perseus Jackson.
And then, I woke with a start, and I was breathily heavily in and out. What was all of that I just saw? Was it that prophecy my father spoke of? If so, then Percy is about to be involved in a sudden war, again. I stared at the cursed bow, and thought of why I had it, of how I once gotten it as a gift from Hestia, and has been giving me these nightmares, especially if gods cannot dream. I averted my eyes and looked out through the columns of my palace, and saw the pitch black night, and there I saw my domain, the moon, all full and silvery. I have always had the moon after me and my annoying brother Apollo fought for who's domain to keep. He won the sun, and I gotten the moon. Still, it's not that bad, as it usually help me and my hunters keep our calm in the dark as it shines on us. Now as I stare at it, it calms me, but does not allure my worrying thoughts away from me. I had to think, why is Percy involved in the war of my Hunters and the Assassins. It's not the only war he's faced, the boy lacks judgement, but embraced bravery and loyalty to everyone like his father. But I did not expect him to be getting himself into another war. But I think I finally know WHY he's involving himself in this next war. It's because he's fighting in this war, and not with me, because Perseus Jackson, is one of the Assassins.
***Later***
I still couldn't get over the fact of figuring out that Percy Jackson is one of the Assassin's, one of my Hunter's many enemies. The boy was not that smart to begin with, but I had not expected this. It didn't matter now, because if I interfered with this nonsense, it would affect the prophecy, and I was under strict rules not to do so by my father. I don't know if the boy was being brave, or foolish, I just knew I couldn't let this get in my way. So instead of sleeping the rest of the night at my Hunters' camp. As I teleported back to the camp, everyone was fast asleep, the wood was all charred and unlit in the center of where the fire was, and the guard wolves were on watch, so I fed the wolves and set my tent up. I also took the liberty of taking the golden bow with me. Yes, I know it causes the annoying visions in my sleep, but I thought that I would bring it for a different course of luck. After preparing my bed of furs, and I set myself down, blowing the light out, I fell asleep once more.
***Later in the Morning***
I wake in the present smell of burning char in the fire pit, across from my tent. And as the fire blazed in the morning sunlight, I smelt the delicious smell of burning sacrificed food. Fresh bread, animal meat, handmade waffles, the good stuff. Every god and goddess loved the smell of burnt offerings, and it always smelt better in the mornings. Other than that, I remembered I had the golden bow with me, and thinking of how that bow usually tried to assault me in my sleep, and Morpheus was practically allowing it, but it now gave me a better course of luck. I placed it in my hunting chest, and I thought 'I should go check on it'. But then I took one more sniff at the burnt offerings, and I couldn't resist the smell. 'But, maybe after having a nice plate of bread' I re-thought. So I got up on my feet, walking out of my tent, and came to greet my hunters. "Good morning lady Artemis" the hunters greeted me, all bowing before me, and Thalia had bowed, raising her arms to hold up a plate of hot breakfast. Cooked eggs, toast, and beans. "No need to bow" I said, and I took the plate of food from Thalia as they Hunter stood back up. "Good morning my hunters. As you've known I was away for a few days, and I've had some urgent business to attend to with Zeus. But one of the things I am not certainly amused of the situation of the Assassins". Just then the hunters then started mumbling to each other silently, talking of the Assassins again, and others stayed silent and listened. "But I have once said that nothing shall stand in our way. Whether it be monsters or the Assassins, but I have some good news, and some bad news. Which shall you all want to hear first"? "The bad news"? I heard Chloe say in the back of the group. "The bad news is; is that we cannot interfere with the plot of the Assassins for now". Now they all started groaning and mumbling about this situation. "However, for the good news; we shall travel on forwards towards the border of Mexico, as we are now hunting for a boar. One which is indicating a strange aura. Possibly the honoured Wild Boar. It will offer a great prize and celebration. So we will leave within an hour or so. So eat up, be packed and prepared, and we will break camp. You may all be dismissed". They all broke from the group, and sat back down with their bows and bags packing up. And I walked back towards my tent, until I heard Thalia's voice, "lady Artemis"? I stopped and heeded to her voice. "Yes Thalia"?
"May I speak with you for a second"?
I nodded and said "of course, come with me into my tent and we will talk in private". She nodded and followed me into my tent. Thalia set her bow and quiver full of arrows down besides her as she sat down, her legs crossed. I sat across from her. And I looked across from her and saw the chest under the hanging torches, the latches glowing bronze in the light and the chest itself made of polished spruce wood. "What is it that you ask for Thalia"? I questioned. She breathed out, moved a strand of her raven black hair out of her eye and asked "for the talk of the Assassins. What is it about them that we hate them"? I was afraid of something like this. It was questions like this from every new recruit for the Hunters after the 'incident' with both of our clans. I sighed, and said "I just cannot tell this simply to other Hunters about this mishap with the Assassins. It's always hard. But as you as my lieutenant, I can trust you and assure I may tell you the secret. So here it is".
I leaned up to her ear and whispered the secret to her. (A/N: sorry, you'll all hear it at the near end of the book).
When I was done, Thalia's expression was in shock. She never always had this expression, but it is usually a natural expression for times like this. "Wow" she said. "All of that happened five decades ago? And they're still here? But what purpose do they have here? And what are they after during the millennia"? I sighed. "I do not know their purpose, and I do not know what they want. But there is something that I believe they are after and searching for. Something they call 'Pieces of Eden'. An ancient weapon made of unstable power, countless ancient devices forged in Hestia's hearth, made of Greek celestial bronze, and Roman imperial gold. It gave them power which I think they're using to put an end to fight with or fight against the gods. And I happen to have one of them". I got up, and approached the chest behind Thalia, and she walked towards it with me. Io knelt down, and tried to remove the locks, until they somehow broke off. Strange... I recount having locking the chest, keeping the key, and the locks were made of celestial bronze. There's nothing in the chest worth stealing... except... I opened the chest, and the glowing, golden, powerful bow from Hestia, was gone. "i-i-it's gone". "What do you mean lady Artemis"? Thalia asked, not seeing the situation behind me. "My bow... i-it's gone. It's been stolen. B-but who"? I panicked. That bow has power enough to possibly kill a God or Titan. I kept looking for something, ANYTHING to help find out who did it. Nothing. Until Thalia pointed out "was that symbol there before"? Pointing at the underside of the chest's lid. And I do not remember that a symbol was on it, not oven a sort of upside down V with a slight curve underneath it. And then I finally realized who had stolen it. I got up, narrowing my eyebrow, and kicking the chest, and Thalia backed up a few steps away from me afraid. After another kick, I turned and faced Thalia as she stood up again. "Thalia, come with me" I said.
"To where"?
"Olympus".
I held my hand tight around Thalia's arm, and said "close your eyes tight". She did as I said, closing her eyes tight, and I focused on my power. My skin starting to glow and brighten more and more as I focused. And both me and Thalia disappeared from the tent, and we travelled in the speed of light from the Hunter's camp, onto the from steps of Olympus. "You may open your eyes now Thalia". She opened her eyes and gazed in awe at the Olympus council temple. She had been here before, but in the mortal eyes it will seem so attractive, but in my eyes, it's just no different. I had no time to think about it, and wee both walked up the steps to the temple. And I grew my size in my godly size of 20 feet, and I pushed open the doors. Once inside, the hearth was still burning, but Hestia was not besides it. My father Zeus, and Hera were sitting besides each other in their thrones. They seemed to have just been in a conversation, but I presume it just ended as I walked into the throne room. "Father. I have a request. And it cannot wait"! He sighed, and rubbed his temple, "Artemis, have I not just spoken to you about this yesterday? I cannot allow an interference with the Assassins-". "That is not what I came to talk about this time father" I said, cutting him off. He grunted, but did not say anything back. "Father, I require a quest! Send the best for this, I do not care for who it is just-"! "Enough"! My father yelled, "what is this quest for"?! I breathed in, trying to keep my calm. And said "I require a quest for my golden bow. For I had just found out it was stolen, by the Assassin order".
