Isabella sat at her office desk, her gaze flicking from one document to the next. The soft glow of the desk lamp illuminated her features, casting shadows that accentuated her sharp jaw. Her brow was furrowed in concentration as she reviewed the documents, her slender fingers flipping through the pages with practiced ease. The room was enveloped in a hushed silence, broken only by the occasional rustle of papers or the soft click of her pen. The weight of responsibility was etched in her expression, but beneath that facade there was an underlying vulnerability.
Isabella took off her glasses, massaging the bridge of her nose, scanning the room in search of something to quench her craving. Finding no coffee within reach, she leaned back in her chair and pressed a button on the intercom, summoning one of her loyal staff. After adjusting her glasses back onto her face, and continued working, her eyes scanning the documents before her.
As the minutes ticked by, Isabella began to feel a sense of frustration build up as no one came to attend to her request. She glanced down at her watch and noticed the time, realizing that everyone had already left for the day. With a heavy sigh, she stood up from her desk and walked out of her office, resigned to getting the coffee herself.
Isabella made her way to the coffee machine, the corridor eerily quiet at this hour. She prepared her coffee and took a sip, then leaned against the table beside the window, looking outside at the panoramic view. The evening had settled in, the sky painted with a beautiful display of orange and pink hues as the sun began to set.
Just then, her ears perked up at the sound of approaching footsteps, her heart rate quickening as she strained to listen. It didn't take long for her to recognize those familiar footsteps, and a mixture of anticipation and nervousness washed over her.
The gentle breeze blew softly, ruffling through her hair as she looked up from her coffee. And indeed, her heart hadn't deceived her - it was him. His figure illuminating by the soft glow of the evening light with the each step he was taking, a sight that stirred a whirlwind of emotions within her.
Every step he took towards her seemed to steal her breath, leaving her breathless in anticipation. She found herself asking the same question over and over in her mind, struggling to comprehend how this man could be so effortlessly attractive, as if he had stepped out of the pages of a fictional story.
As he leaned in, his shoulder brushing against hers, her breath hitched in her throat. She felt frozen in place as he waited for his cup to fill, the air crackling with tension. Her heart raced as she tried to compose herself, she gripped on her dress, but the proximity of his presence was overwhelming.
In that moment, she was acutely aware of his presence - the heat radiating from his proximity, the subtle scent of his cologne, the soft sound of his breath - it was all consuming and overwhelming.
"You shouldn't work this late," he said quietly, filling his cup. Lost in her thoughts, she hadn't quite registered his words until he gently called out to her and he noticed that.
"Bella!" he called out, his tone soft and almost melodic. The sound of his voice broke through the haze of her thoughts. She couldn't help but feel a fluttering in her chest as he called out her name, the way the syllables rolled off his tongue, like a gentle caress. With a sharp intake of breath.
In that moment, she felt a deep sense of being "blessed" to be addressed by him, as if being acknowledged by him was akin to receiving a precious gift. He smirked seeing her flustered.
She quickly snapped back to reality, tilting her head to meet his gaze. She took in every feature, from his captivating eyes to his soft, perfectly chiseled jawline, her mind swimming in a state of both fascination and trepidation.
