Lee Jieun's pov
Sehun co-operated easily. It wasn't hard at all to get him drive, he was a worker under our family after all, a driver on top of that. I rarely thought of him that way to be honest, but today I had given myself a permission to be selfish, so why not try to act according to it.
I knew seeing me must've hurt him quite badly considering the timing, but deciding that he deserved something after maddening me with his ignoring act when I could've really needed him, I tried my best not to be bothered by it. It was only fair, right?
And to pick up my mood from guilty thoughts to something near bliss, it was time to pick up my special guests. Only guests right now were my Mom and Suzy, who I didn't really invite until realizing that this was actually important to my mother, and although I really hesitated was it worth taking the risk, I deemed it was.
She was, after all, the only girl I barely talked to from my school. I didn't want my Mom getting the impression that I didn't have any friends, which I really didn't, but she didn't need to know. Besides, I did get along with everyone, but just knowing what was going to happen soon, I couldn't find it in me to suddenly nourish new friendships.
Also, there was the fact that everyone else actually knew about Suzy and Myungsoo going out while my family had fortunately remained oblivious to it. So I wasn't really keen on starting a big rumor that I was stealing Suzy's boyfriend by asking his hand. That wouldn't stay only in the school grounds for long, that was for sure.
And I figured that I was going to see Suzy's face often soon anyway, so why not try to gain a friend while at it? While I didn't want to be the evil witch wrecking the sweet couple's relationship, I also didn't want to hate anyone. And I didn't. Or maybe a teeny weeny bit Sehun at the moment, but that wasn't so shocking.
I skipped happily to the familiar door while Sehun silently remained in the car, waiting. I didn't mind, I was going to meet friends that he hadn't gotten to know yet after all. I didn't expect myself to be that delighted to know something he didn't, but oh well.
I stared at the door with a goofy smile until I remembered that I actually needed to knock if I wanted them to realize I was there. So I raised my hand and knocked lightly, before stepping back and waiting someone to open it.
I could hear some small, light steps nearing the door, and soon enough I saw Hana peeking behind the door. I smiled at her delighted face as she ran to drag her mother to the door, just to show I was there.
"Jieun-ssi!" Yoonhee said and ran to hug me. "I'm glad that you stopped by! We haven't seen in a long, long time!" She said and regrettably, that was true.
"Yes, it's nice to see you again, Yoonhee-ssi," I answered and bowed.
"Please, just speak comfortably. Call me Yoonhee," she ordered and then flashed me a smile.
"You can call me Jieun as well," I told her and returned her smile. As easily as that had my day turned a hundred times better. I did not feel tired, I did not feel mad, I felt happy. This was the right choice to do, they must come.
"Well, Jieun. Did you have something to talk about?" Yoonhee asked.
"Yes! I'd like to officially ask you to join my bridal party," I exclaimed happily.
"Oh! Our friend is getting married! How delightful!" she exclaimed enthusiastically and hugged me again, before telling Hana to put on a dress.
I waited for them, relieved knowing that my real friends, someone whose company I actually enjoyed, would be there. Beside my mother, of course, she was still the number one.
When they were ready, we went to my luxurious car I never asked for. I'd rather have an old used car with some dust and sand decorating it. I had this thing with old stuff, like pocket watches. I loved pocket watches.
"Hey, Jieun.. You forgot to tell me the part where you say that you're rich," Yoonhee said with widened eyes and mouth hanging open as we finally arrived at our neighborbood.
"I did not think that was important. But I apologize for not telling that I'm rich. I am the heiress, Lee Jieun, of the successful Lee company. Nice to meet you, Jung Yoonhee," I introduced myself and offered my hand like we had met for the first time today. She took my hand and she was even more awed when we drove to our large yard.
She saw our big white house, no, mansion, no, a castle. Our house was like a castle. It didn't show anything flashy things, unlike those uneducated rich bricks that wouldn't miss an opportunity to show off. We don't like to brag with our money or success, that's what I've been taught ever since I was a child.
Sehun opened the car's door with a curious look, but I ignored it. If he really wanted me to tell, he needed to open his mouth and ask. He cut me off, so of course he wouldn't know those new faces that were now important to me. What a good way to tell him he missed a lot of my life already.
Even though I did want to introduce them right now against all my mischievous plans, I did have a party to attend. My party to be exact. Now that I actually thought about it, I felt thrilled. I would get married tomorrow with the one I loved.
He may not have loved me, but I chose not to care for a day longer. Tomorrow would be the happiest day of my life, or at least that was what I imagined it to be. My steps became lighter and my smile appeared on my face again. The feeling of hope and expectation filled me completely, making me forget the last guest that hadn't arrived yet. But that feeling couldn't be washed away even when I saw Suzy arriving.
I deserved some happiness too, right?
But not long after I wanted to know what did the fate have against me. I was going to die anyway, why make things harder while I was still alive? Suzy walked straightly towards me and the Jung family.
"Are you a friend of Jieun's?" Yoonhee asked politely, not knowing what kind of mess that one question would make. That smile she had on her face was swiped away with the passing wind, making her absolutely stunned.
"No, I'm her husband's girlfriend, Bae Suzy. Nice to meet you," Suzy answered truthfully while bowing her head. I heard some dramatic glass shattering and when I turned around, I saw a frozen statue I called by the title "mother."
