Eren's POV
In the last few weeks, I have practiced a lot with Annie, and I think I can say we started to develop a bond between us, not just a mentor-apprentice bond, but an actual friendship. I tend to see her alone most of the time, the only one I have seen her with is Mina, a girl from our class, but no one else.
-Hey, Eren- I turn around and smile, I already knew it's Annie the one who called me, it's funny how easily I can recognize her voice now.
-Heya, what's up?- I reply, looking down at her. This sure felt slightly odd, I'm not that used to look down to see someone.
-I was wondering if you could pair up with me on the math test, because you're the only person I'm willing to do it with- I chuckled and smiled, I couldn't help but feel slightly proud, stupidly proud but still.
-Sure thing, my place or yours?- I asked, tucking my hands in my pockets.
-My place, l'll see you outside after class- I nodded, it's a date then. We both returned to our classes after that, thank god it's Friday, finally weekend and relax... Well, I did have to study and do homework, at the end.
After the last school bell ring, everyone rushed to get out of the buildings, it amused me to see how excited they were to run away from the high school, not that I'm not, but I'm not going to step over someone else just to get away.
-Aren't you coming with us?- Armin asked both him and Mikasa looking at me questioningly, I didn't realize I was staring into space and my walk had slowed down from them. I must have been really deep in my thoughts.
-Not this time, guys. I'm going to study with Annie for the math test coming up- They both stared at me for a while, squinting their eyes and showing distrust, I felt a hand on my shoulder, I looked back only to find Annie looking up at me.
-Ready to go?
-Yeah, see you guys!- I replied, waving goodbye at Armin and Mikasa, I received a glare from Mikasa, I don't know why they don't trust Annie at all. They always look at her like that, like a stranger, I can sort out a way to get them to get to know each other better, perhaps they could even get along.
-Eren!- I shook my head quickly, I was so immersed in my thoughts I didn't notice Annie was talking to me.
-I-I'm sorry, I was lost in my mind- I apologize, laughing it off nervously as she sighed, she gripped at my wrist, pointing at a house next to us, we're already here? How long did I space out?...
-We have the house to ourselves, my brothers are at college now so, make yourself at home- She said, opening that door and letting me in first, I heard her close it behind us.
-You can sit on the couch, want anything to drink? Water, soda, juice...- She asked, I did as told and sat down on the couch in the living room while my eyes saw her open the fridge and disappear behind it.
-Soda would be nice, thanks- I answered, taking off my backpack and grabbing my math book and notebook, the math test would be next Monday, and I barely know shit about it. Annie tossed me a can of coke, and she grabbed one for herself too.
It has been about two hours, two DAMNED hours and I still can't get to understand most of it! I swear this is just stressing me out more than it should.
-Argh!- I groan angrily, closing my book and leaning back, growling in despair.
-I think I can make you learn, stand up- Annie commands me, I don't know what she's going to do, she grabs my hand and leads me to the backyard, there's barely anything around, just the open yard.
-This is what we'll do, I'll tell you the question, and you gotta answer while defending yourself from my attacks, got it?- Oh! I get it now! I can see how it works. I nod, and we begin sparring. Moments later, I have evaded and defended myself from most of her attacks, I pant softly, all my ears can hear is my heavy breathing, as drops of swear roll down my forehead.
-Ah!- Now I'm laying on the ground, Annie kicked me down, and is now on top of me, in total control of me.
-It's not a function! It doesn't work because element 2 of Set A doesn't have an equal!- I reply before she gives me the final hit. She stops and nods, I see her smile as she rolls to my side, she's panting a bit too.
-Correct answer, Jaeger. Good job, Eren- She says, congratulating me, I smile and look up at the orange tainted sky, we spent so much time on this that we didn't realize it was this late. I looked over at Annie, the way the setting sunlight reflected on her bright blue eyes, the smile she had across her face just a second ago, she looks so beautiful, so calm and-
-Hey! Earth calling Eren!- Oh shit, I was lost in my thoughts again, while I stared at her!
-Sorry, I just got lost in your eyes- I spoke bluntly, I should have thought before saying anything! Now she's going to punch me in the guts!
-W-what?!- She blurted out, stuttering and blushing like a mature tomato, she stared at me with a shocked and flustered expression, she used her hands to cover her embarrassed face, why is she looking so cute to me?!
-In a g-good way! I mean, they're really beautiful! I m-mean! AGH!- I haven't feel this stupid, nervous and SO many things in my WHOLE LIFE.
-...Thank you, Eren- I was more than shocked at her reaction, I chuckled and smiled, she punched my arm, still as red as a cherry tomato.
Soon after that, I had to return to my home before it got too dark. I spent the entire walk home thinking about Annie, the way she blushed, the gleam on her neon blue eyes, it was breathtaking... I like that side of her, I like, no, I love seeing the life in her eyes, and the fact that I was able to bring it out? Makes me feel even better, I don't understand why, but I truly love her like that.
