Both of us sat at one of those small tables that were set up around the store. The thing about Mark is that his good looks always made me forget why I was mad at him. He had that dark brown hair and blue eyes thing going on that kept me in a trance. He had a jaw that was so nicely sculpted and his abs weren't half bad either. I didn't focus on any of that though.
"So how have you been?" He asked. It was a loaded question.
"I'm good. How's Jess?" I asked. I didn't bother being subtle. I didn't want to waste my time with him using small talk when we both knew about the elephant in the room.
"Right so you did see that picture." He sighed and leaned back a little in his chair. He took a sip of his coffee.
"Yah I did. I'm not an idiot Mark."
He immediately leaned forward and his mood changed to serious.
"Listen Rachel. Jess and I are not a thing anymore. I miss you."
When he said it, it wasn't like a relief. It just made me seize up a little. Almost like I didn't want to hear it.
"Mark I don't think I can right now." I responded.
"Does this have anything to do with the guy on your Instagram?" He asked. He was referring to the picture I had with Oli about one week into our trip.
"Yah it does." I honestly answered. Every second I spent with Oli was a second I was glad I wasn't with Mark.
"Well you bounce back fast." He said. I knew him and it was entirely sarcastic. I heard the jealousy in his voice and I didn't care for it. He continued "what happened there anyway?"

"Long story or short?" I asked.
"Short." He replied.
It was exactly what I needed to hear to make me loose any residual feeling that their was between us.
If someone cares about you they will always want to hear the long version. If they care then they will want to know every detail. Arden always wanted to hear the long story, so did Oli, and hell so did Joe, Will, and Caspar. If they were truly your friends then they would want to hear exactly what you had to say.
"I'm sorry Mark I have to go." I got up and he stood as well.
"What? What about us?" He asked. He seemed more pissed than sad so I didn't bother feeling bad.
"Mark let me ask you something and I want you to give me an honest answer. Before you broke up with me, did you cheat on me with her?" I asked.
He looked down at the floor and muttered out "yah."
"Ok thanks that's what I needed to hear. Goodbye. Have a nice life. If there is anything of mine that is at your apartment please leave it at my house tomorrow." I turned on my heels and walked out. It felt so good to stand up for myself.
I had a weird adrenaline rush going through me so I decided to conquer everything at once.
I drove to the address that Caspar had sent me earlier that week of where they were staying.
I got out of the car and knocked on the rented condo they were residing in.
Oli opened the door. He was wearing Adidas track pants and a black shirt but I was more paying attention to the expression on his face which was surprised to say the least.
"Rachel I meant to call you Casper talked to me an-" before he could finish I decided to cut him off and get my two cents in.
"Oli listen. I like you. I really do. Joe and I aren't like that. I have liked you since the moment I met you at the bottom of those steps. You make me feel so happy when I'm around you and I just want to be around you all the time." I caught my breath after my little monologue and waited for him to speak.
But he didn't. He simply grabbed my waist and and pulled my into him. Our lips met in the middle. I threw my arms around his neck and linked them together. I was weak at the knees but I was enjoying every second of it.
Finally, we were both in the same place.
