Rachel's POV
2 weeks went by incredibly fast. Almost in a whirlwind. You know what they say 'time flies when you are having fun'. It was my last night.
Joe and I had said goodbye that day. We called it friends. It was fun for the past two weeks but I think both of us wanted something more, just with different people.
The problem was going to be, leaving Oli. We had hung out almost everyday that I had been here. We laughed about stupid stuff together, there was never an awkward silence when I was around him, his general presence made me happy. I tried to shut down my thought process as I was filling my suitcase.
Arden was spending her last night with Will, of course. I hadn't seen her too much on this trip but I didn't mind at all. She found someone she was happy with. I wish I could say the same. Well I could I suppose if Oli didn't have a girlfriend. He probably didn't even think of me that way. For some weird reason I wasn't upset. I just wanted him to be happy and if he was happy then I was happy.
Oli's POV
Rachel was leaving tomorrow and I wanted her to stay so bad. I know she was only my friend and that she likes Joe and not me but the time I spent with her was amazing. She had the best outlook on everything. Even if she were just my friend that would be ok. I just wanted to spend time with her and if she was happy with Joe then I was alright with that. Or at least I'd try to be.
That night she came over to my flat where we ordered the best Chinese food in town and watched Saturday Night Live on Hulu. I liked that I could be myself around her. We could just laugh our asses off with fried rice-stuffed faces and it be ok.
"So you sad to leave London?" I asked while we were waiting for an Ad to finish.
"Yah I am. I've had a great time here. I'm glad I met you." She said. She was sat right next to me on the couch. She looked directly into my eyes and everything in my body willed me to kiss her.
I attempted to snap myself out of it "So what will happen with you and Joe." I asked trying to focus on the fact that she wasn't mine to kiss.
"Oh um" she tucked her hair behind her ears. "I don't know." She got quiet and turned away from me.
"So how is Emily?" She asked me.
"Who?"
"Your girlfriend?" She looked at me like I was crazy then I remembered the fact that she thought I had a girlfriend.
"Oh uh. She's good. Sorry you didn't get to meet her." What the hell was I actually saying.
"Yah that's a bummer." She turned her head back to the TV and we sat in silence.
Rachel's POV
I didn't know why he asked about Joe and I. I mean we weren't dating. I guess Oli knew that we hung out a bit these past two weeks but he asked me that question like he though Joe and I were dating which I didn't get.
"I should get going my flight leaves at 4 am" I said while standing up from his couch.
"Yah sure thing." He stood up and showed me to the door.
He opened it for me and and just as I was leaving I turned back around to face him. I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him so tight I thought I would squeeze the air out of him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me right back.
We let go just enough to be facing each other but still be connected. I was staring into his brown eyes just before he connected his lips to mine.
It caught me 100% off guard but it was still amazing. My mind wasn't wandering, I was just in that moment.
He backed away before I could really get into it.
"I am so sorry." He apologized profusely and his eyes looked so worried.
"No it's alright." I remembered Emily. "I should go." Why the hell would he kiss me when he has a girlfriend. I had dealt with cheaters before. People like Mark, and I didn't want to be involved in making someone else hurt like I hurt.
I turned right around and walked out. I didn't bother to look behind me. I thought about all of it all the way back in the Uber. Did I really know what kind of person Oli was? Because I for sure didn't think that he would do something like that.
I opened the door to Arden packing her suitcase.
"Hey." She said as I came in the door. "Do you think I should keep this book in my carryon just in-case?" She asked before looking up. I didn't respond.
She looked up obviously searching for my response and instead saw my distraught face.
"Oh my god what happened?" She walked away from her luggage and came over to give me a hug.
"Long story or short?" I asked as she wrapped her arms around me.
"Long story of course." She responded and I proceeded to tell her everything.
