The next day at med school, Faryal and Kasim had to go in a pair while Zainab And Ijaz were in a pair, They were getting along very well, Safina and Nolan were also in a pair while Moshin was with the new girl who's name is Sadaf. They all went to the patients and asked them questions, the patients told them what they needed to know after they all went round the ward. They went to the meeting room and shared their thoughts, "Miss. Kate Madden is experiencing diarrhoea, nausea, loss of appetite, fever(flushed face) and the most concerning symptom is that she's experiencing pain in the middle of your abdomen (tummy) that come and go. Gradually the pain travels to the lower right-hand side. Considering that she's an adolescent, I think it would be appendicitis, we should do a blood test right now and then do an ultrasound tomorrow morning" said Faryal.
"I think it would be an urine tract infection" said Zainab.
"I could be severe irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) " said Ijaz.
"Well I think I would be inflamed gallbladder or kidney stones" said Mohsin.
"I agree with you Faryal, we should do a urine test to rule out a urinary tract infection and an ultrasound" said Kasim. Faryal smiled at Kasim and he smiled back, the rest started talking about the other patients. They discussed the symptoms and what tests should be done, after the discussion. They all went to a restaurant, Nolan sat next to Faryal, while Kasim was sitting across from her. Zainab was sitting next to Ijaz, they were busy talking, while Nolan whispered in Faryal's ear, "I thought we were going to go somewhere, just me and you?".
"I know, next time I promise" said Faryal. Kasim heard this, he felt annoyed for some odd reason, he didn't like how close Faryal and Nolan were. It actually pissed him off, he got up and left the restaurant. Faryal ran after Kasim, "Oye wait!" Shouted Faryal.
"WHAT IS IT?!" Shouts Kasim.
"Where are you going?!" Said Faryal.
"It's none of your business" replied Kasim.
"But... What's wrong?!" Replies Faryal.
"JUST GO AWAY!" Shouts Kasim.
Faryal gets upset and wonders what she's done and why Kasim is so angry with her. Weeks went by, Kasim didn't talk to Faryal, she tried talking to him many times but he would make an excuse and leave. For some odd reason Faryal felt the need to talk to Kasim and find out why he's angry with her, while Kasim ignored her. Nolan tries to impress Faryal, they go on dates regularly. Faryal likes Nolan, he's a really sweet guy, always complimenting her, giving her gifts, listening to her every problems and making her laugh but she still feels weird. She liked spending time with Nolan he's amazing and really good looking, everyone realised how close they were but Faryal considered Nolan a good friend while Nolan wanted to be more than friends.
"Faryal, we've been going out for a few weeks now and I like you a lot, can we take a step further, will you be my girlfriend?!" Asked Nolan.
"I like you too but I'm confused right now, I don't want everything to happen so fast, I'm still getting to know you and you're a wonderful guy but I promise I'll let you know soon" said Faryal.
"Don't worry Faryal, I understand take your time, I'm not going anywhere" said Nolan.
"Thank you for understanding" said Faryal.
For the past 2-3 days Kasim wasn't coming to med school, Faryal asked Zainab to ask Ijaz why he wasn't coming in but Ijaz didn't even know. Zainab and Ijaz are now dating and are pretty much in love. Zainab was talking to Faryal about Ijaz but Faryal was too busy worrying about Kasim, "why didn't he tell anyone why he isn't coming? What could have happened?" Thought Faryal but then realised that she said it out loudly. Zainab looked at her and said, "Faryal, what's wrong with you? Why are you so worried about Kasim?! He was so rude to you that day!" Said Zainab.
"I honestly don't know... I just feel that I'll be able to rest after I see him and speak to him. I want to know why he's so angry with me" said Faryal.
"Faryal... Do you like Kasim?" Asked Zainab.
"No don't be silly, I'm just concerned about him" said Faryal.
"Ok whatever you say" replied Zainab.
Zainab and Faryal go to see Miss. Kate Madden's ultrasound reports and the blood test reports, Faryal opened the reports, her diagnosis was right, Kate has appendicitis and needs to get it removed as soon as possible before it bursts. Faryal and Zainab go to the senior doctor and tell him everything, "Well done
Faryal, I want you, Zainab, Ijaz, Nolan and Kasim to come into the operation theatre with me. I want you all to help me operate on the patient" said the senior doctor.
"Oh my god! Thank you so much Dr. Owen, it means a lot to us, thank you once again" said Faryal.
"Your welcome, you guys deserve it, you all have worked very hard for the past few weeks and I've heard a lot of praises from the patient about you all" said Dr. Owen. After everyone had their lunch and chilled for a bit, Dr. Owen gathered everyone and told them everything that they need to do in the operation theatre.
He told them about the complications,
He explained that the operation is going to be performed as 'keyhole' surgery (laparoscopy), which involves making several small cuts in your abdomen, through which special surgical instruments are inserted. Faryal, Zainab, Ijaz and Nolan changed into surgery clothes, Kasim rushed in. Faryal was glad to see Kasim she wanted to talk to him but it wasn't the right time and right place. They all got ready and watched as Dr.Owen did the surgery, Faryal and Zainab passed the surgical instruments while Ijaz and Kasim kept an eye on the machines. The operation was successful, they told the nurses to give morphine to Kate.
"Well done guys, great teamwork. I'm proud of all of you" said Dr.Owen. After Dr. Owen walked away, Faryal and Zainab were talking about how amazing the surgery was then Faryal saw that Kasim was standing there alone so she walked towards him when suddenly a girl came running and hugged him.
"Hey babe, I've been waiting for you" said the girl. Kasim hugged her back, Faryal felt jealous, she was about to walk away when suddenly Kasim said, "Faryal?!". Faryal looked back and saw that Kasim had his arms around the girl.
"Hey, where have you been for the past few days?" Asked Faryal.
"I wasn't well so i didn't come in" said Kasim.
"Why didn't you tell anyone! You should have at least told Ijaz!" Said Faryal.
"I didn't know it was such a big deal if I was in or not!" Said Kasim.
"Anyways, I need to talk to you in private" said Faryal.
"I can't right now, I'm going on a date with my girlfriend" said Kasim.
"Girlfriend?! I didn't know you had a girlfriend" said Faryal.
"Yeah I know, we've been going out since the past 2-3 days" said Kasim.
"You hardly know her! How can you make her your girlfriend?!" Said Faryal.
"She has a name you know?! She's Sadaf the new girl plus it's up to me who I date, what's it to you?!" Asked Kasim.
"Nothing, I was just saying and nice to meet you Sadaf, welcome to the campus" said Faryal.
"'Nice to meet you too and thank you" said Sadaf. Nolan came and hugged Faryal from the back, "Hey, I've been looking for you everywhere" said Nolan. He turned Faryal to face him, "I was just talking to Kasim and his girlfriend" said Faryal.
"Girlfriend?! Oh nice to meet you" said Nolan.
"Nice to meet you too" said Sadaf.
"Sorry I didn't catch your name" said Nolan.
"Sorry babe, I forgot to introduce you, Sadaf this is my boyfriend Nolan and Nolan this is Kasim's girlfriend Sadaf" said Faryal.
"Boyfriend?!" Said Kasim.
"Yeah I know, you have a girlfriend, I have a boyfriend, Zainab and Ijaz are a couple. I guess we all need someone close to us..." Said Faryal.
"Faryal, can I talk to you in private?" Said Nolan.
"Yeah sure sweetheart" said Faryal.
Nolan took Faryal outside and said, "What was that all about?'".
"What do you mean?!" Said Faryal.
"A while ago you were confused and wanted to take things slow but all of a sudden you introduce me to people telling them I'm your boyfriend?!" Said Nolan.
"Yeah, but I promised you that I will let you soon and well I was thinking about everything and I do want to be your girlfriend" said Faryal. Nolan hugged Faryal tightly and said, "Faryal, I'm in love with you!". Faryal didn't know what to say so she said, "It's getting very cold, can we go inside?. When they got in, Nolan hugged Faryal, he took his jacket off and put it over her. "Thank you" said Faryal. Kasim was standing there with Sadaf but couldn't get his eyes off Faryal. Faryal was standing there with Nolan but couldn't stop staring at Kasim.
