Chapter 12

They finally landed in Dubai, Faryal's mum's side of the family came to pick them up. Faryal's mum explained to her family that Kasim has been stayed with them and that he came here as his mum is a guest at the wedding and will be coming soon. They all welcomed him in, Faryal and Anam went and met their family, their cousin Ammarah came and gave them a big hug.
"Thank you so much for coming" said Ammarah.
"Don't be silly! How could you think we wouldn't come your wedding" said Anam.
"I know exactly and congratulations Ammarah" said Faryal.
"Thank you Faryal" said Ammarah. Anam went and met her gran, her gran was happy to see Anam and hugged her but looked at Faryal awkwardly. For some odd reason their gran doesn't like Faryal as much as she likes Anam, she always treated them differently. Faryal could remember the fact that her parents used to argue with her gran and tell her to treat Anam and Faryal equality. Faryal still respected her so she went and hugged her, her gran hugged her back. She started asking questions about Kasim so Sabha(Anam's mum) had to explain everything to her. Meanwhile Faryal's guy cousins came and met them, "OMG Faryal! My little doll, you're grown up so fast" said Tariq.
"Tariq bhai!(bro) how are you? You look so different since you're growing a beard, it suits you" said Faryal.
"I'm fine thanks and haha thank you" replied Tariq. Their other guy cousin came and said, "Wow is that you Anam?".
"Yes Usman, It's me" said Anam. They all chatted away, Yasar came and said, "you're guest looks so tired".
"Yasar, please show Kasim the guest room" said Anam.
"Oh my god! Kasim, you've got eye bags and swollen eyes, are you ok?" said Faryal.
"Wow Faryal! Calm down, he's just tired" said Yasar.
"Yasar, please go to take him upstairs" said Faryal.
"Ok..." Replied Yasar. Tariq, Usman and Anam all looked at Faryal awkwardly.
"Anyways lets go to the living room" said Ammarah. All the cousins gathered around and talked away but Faryal's concentration was on Kasim.
"So what do you think Faryal?" Asked Ammarah.
"Huh?" Replied Faryal.
"What are you thinking about? You seem so distracted and aren't listening to what we are saying" said Ammarah.
"Sorry, I was just lost in my thoughts but it's ok what were you saying?" Said Faryal.
"I was just discussing about the colour scheme for the Mehndi and Wedding" said Ammarah.
"You should do a multi coloured theme for the mehndi, Red and gold or silver for the wedding" said Faryal.
"Hmm thanks Faryal, that actually sounds really good" said Ammarah.
They continued discussing about the functions and what everyone is going to wear. Finally Yasar came down, Faryal jumped up and said, "How's Kasim feeling? Is he ok? Does he need anything?" Asked Faryal.
"Wow slow down Faryal! One question at a time" said Yasar.
"Sorry but how is he?" Said Faryal.
"It's alright, he has a headache so he's sleeping now... don't disturb him" said Yasar.
"Ok" said Faryal. Faryal was not satisfied by what Yasar said, she wanted to go and see Kasim but she couldn't. Her cousins started discussing what the menu should be and what singers should they call, they decided on inviting more people. Faryal and Anam asked Ammarah about her fiancé. So she told them that he's a lawyer and he's Arab, she then told them how they met. After a while Faryal went to the kitchen to get a glass of water as she had headache and wanted to take paracetamol. In the meantime, Kasim ran down and rushed into the living room, he searched the room looking for Faryal. "What's wrong? Is everything ok?" Asked Anam.
"Where's Faryal?!" Said Kasim catching his breathe.
"I think she went to the kitchen" said Anam. Kasim quickly ran out looking for her, "How strange!" Said Tariq.
"Are they both always this eager to see each other?" Said Ammarah. Anam felt a bit jealous, Faryal walked in and sat down. "So guys what did I miss?" Said Faryal.
"Kasim came looking for you" said Ammarah.
"Me?" Said Faryal.
"Yeah" said Ammarah. Before Faryal got up, Kasim rushed into the room.
"Oh thank god I found you" said Kasim.
"What's wrong?" Said Faryal. Kasim held Faryal's hand and said, "Come with me".
"What's going on?" Said Yasar.
"I don't know" said Ammarah.
"Let's go and see" said Usman.
Meanwhile Kasim tells Faryal that he got a phone call from Jason saying Zainab and Ijaz have gotten into a car crash, it was a serious accident.  "He tried calling you but you weren't picking up so he called me" said Kasim.
Faryal started crying, "Are they going to be ok?" Said Faryal.
"Don't worry Faryal, Insha'Allah pray for them"'said Kasim. He hugged Faryal, Yasar cleared his throat. They both quickly moved away, "What happened? Why are you crying?" Asked Anam.
"Kasim got a phone call from Jason saying that Zainab and Ijaz have gotten into a serious accident and their condition is quite serious" said Faryal.
"Oh my god! I hope they are ok" said Anam.
"Faryal, I'm booking a flight back to New York for tonight so I can be with them" said Kasim.
"I'm coming with you... They need me too" said Faryal.
"But what about Ammarah's wedding, it's fine Faryal, I'll handle it" said Kasim. Faryal walked over to Ammarah and said, "I'm so sorry but I hope you understand I really need to go Zainab is my best friend and as a future doctor I have to go, My duty comes first" said Faryal.
"I understand Faryal, it's ok. Go help you're friends. The wedding celebrations start in two weeks time anyways so hopefully when you're friends get better, you can bring them with you to the wedding" said Ammarah. Faryal hugged Ammarah, "Thank you so much, you are truly the best" said Faryal.
"You're welcome and haha thanks" said Ammarah. Faryal went into the other living room were all her uncles, aunties, her gran and mum were sitting in, she rushed in and said to her mum, "Mum, I need to go to New York tonight. My best friend has gotten to a serious accident and in critical condition so we have to go" said Faryal.
"Oh my god! May Allah bless them" said her mum.
"Who's we?" Asked her gran.
"Me and Kasim" said Faryal.
"Hmmm ok" said her gran.
"So mum can I go?" Said Faryal.
"Yes of course you can" said her mum.
"Thank you so much for understanding" said mum.
"Kasim, you bought the tickets?" said Faryal.
"Yes, I just need to print out the boarding pass" said Kasim. Faryal called Jason to ask how Zainab and Ijaz were now but he told her that they were still in the same condition. Faryal and Kasim got their suitcases and bought it down. They finally said their goodbyes to the family and made their way to the airport.
