It isn’t very hard to find him. There are screaming girls loitering around the front of the Sheridan and even more in the lobby area. Luke, Niall and I literally have to push our way through, although people do give us a bit of leeway once to realise who we are. The moment I had gotten home from work this afternoon, Liam had told us via Skype that we have to go and see Zayn in person. So that’s why we are here waiting in the Sheridan, for Zayn’s bodyguard to buzz us in.
They do eventually let us in once we can get through to them on the intercom, but after a lift ride of ignoring more fans, we arrive on the eighty-fourth floor to find the hallway chock blocked with more and more screaming teenagers.
“Was I this bad?” I ask Niall referring to when we first met and I was one of these fan girls.
“Worse,” he kids, “Haha jokes, you were cute.”
When we finally get into the penthouse we discover Zayn is not too pleased to see us. He was looking shabby, white shirt half unbuttoned, face unshaven. “Hey Niall. See you bought your friends. What do you want,” he asks with a bitter tone. It’s obvious that he has been drinking; you can see it on his clothes, and the emptiness in his eyes.
“Snap out of this man. Stuff’s happened. Bad stuff.” Replies Niall
“You don’t need to tell me. I’m pretty sure I know!” he yells. Then he gets tired, looks around a bit and passes out on the leather recliner.
We decide that he needs to stay here in the safety of the apartment. Here we are certain no mole can toucheither of us, what with the amount of bodyguards Melbourne has somehow managed to find. However we aren’t sure how much sleep he could possibly be getting because the amount of fans outside seems to have multiplied. and these girls sure aren't quiet. In an act to calm them, Luke, Niall and I do go outside and sign some autographs, on the provision that they all then leave the level. After an hour or two, our mission is successful.
“This is so tiring, I don’t know how you have been doing this so long,” I complain as we lay sprawled out over the king bed Zayn hasn't even bothered to use.
“Honey, this is nothing. How often do you have to hold meet and greets?” retorts Niall.
“Hey! Since I joined On-Screen, I’ve had to be in them all the time, thank-you very much. And I actually have to work, unlike you who just ride around in vans and sings songs to a few million girls.”
“Burn, Niall, burn!” chips in Luke.
"You're just jealous you can sing," Niall retorts earning a few more smart remarks. A silence falls over us for a bit, everyone lost in their own thoughts.
“Well we actually have work tomorrow, so I don’t know what we can do about Zayn,” I say after a while.
“I’ll just stay with him all day and we can talk when you get back…? We were only supposed to go to some stupid interview anyway,” offers Niall
“I don’t know, I don’t know. This is all too confusing. We should get him back to my place shouldn’t we? It would be best if we were all together,” I suggest.
“Sounds good. Wehave to go to bed now. Early morning.” Says Luke quickly. Niall takes his advice and goes out to the sofa next to Zayn and drops asleep almost instantly.
“Gees you sound like my mother. Urgh what am I going to do about clothes – the paparazzi will be ready and rearing by the morning and I dont have anything with me to look respectable in.” I complain, rolling over and snuggling into Luke's side to get comfy.
“Jenna’s on top of it. Don’t worry. Now sleep; here where it’s safe.”
“When did you get so protective?” I question.
