Snapping me out of my trance, Trevor walks over and slams a magazine onto the bench. “What is this? I thought I told you that you and Jai are to stay away from one another! Have I not made myself clear enough? Its articles like these that are going to be the end of you; the end of this show! Lately I have been this close to firing you! Get yourself into gear Maddy, this is not good enough!” he finishes, slightly out of breath from yelling. Trevor’s eyes have turn blood shot, face a bit purple. I look down at the page in front of me and am ashamed to find that it is another picture of mine and Jai’s kiss, written by none other than Ben Monett. Great, the mole’s at work again.
I can’t bring myself to read it, knowing that it won’t be good. Looking around, a crowd has formed with me in the middle; the ‘it’ girl again. The title of the article is enough to tell me that the last one was a close shave, this one, definitely going to do some damage. It reads:
MADDY WEST GOT BOY TROUBLE? OR IS IT JUST PART OF HER PLAN?
Most women struggle to find a man, but this girl’s got the hearts of two of the hottest in Hollywood. But that number seems to be multiplying by the second!
Underneath this is a picture from my run with Niall, and somehow a picture from when Luke was sitting next to me in Zayn’s hotel room. I don’t even need to read the article to know that it has the words ‘gold digger’ and ‘player’ in it. Man I hope Jenna is going to be able to get me out of this one.
“I… don’t know what to say Trevor… I’m sorry I guess,” I say, a bit taken aback. I really don’t want to blame Jai for the kiss, but I haven’t done anything wrong. So instead I just look around awkwardly, making eye contact with no one.
“You should be sorry. How can you go around like that doing all this?” He yells back, making me jump.
“How could you think that? I haven’t done half of the stuff this article accuses me of! Luke and Niall – they’re just my friends!” I practically yell back, getting annoyed at this whole situation. “And Harry, yes it’s complicated, but Jai… he… he…”
“He kissed her,” says Jai. He walks out of the circle, knowing that he could be fired because of what he just said. But for some reason, he continues. “I’m sorry Trevor this has caused so much damage, but I didn’t mean it to. I was just going after my girl… and I’m sorry.”
“Jai I am so sorry for everything I’ve said and done to you. I didn’t mean to hurt you, I was just scared and I don’t know… confused. But I think… I love you,” I finish and run into his arms, glad to have a body to hide behind.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for you to say that. I love you too Maddy.” And then the crowd around us went ‘aww’ like they always do on movies, and we had a fairy-tale foot popping kiss.
“This is very well and romantic and whatever, but this article was published and Maddy is going to have a lot of work to do to get back on track,” complains Trevor, interrupting the moment.
“I know –“
“Hey boss,” one of the cameramen has just got up. “I got this all on tape from just after you slammed the magazine on the bench. You wanna use it?”
With this, the crowd actually started clapping, and I even saw Luke laughing his nod of forgiveness. I scan the crowd for Jenna who is already madly arranging interviews and in the mode of damage control. I take a step back and look around, hand still clasped firmly in Jai’s and think I might actually get my happy ending.

I have never had so much fun filming. All my worries of the mole are forgotten. Everyone seems to be happy, and everyone is having so much fun. And Jai holds my hand the whole way through, as though he thinks if he lets me go, I may never come back.
