Leaving Things Behind

"Did you hear about that fight in the library?" Summer asked Dil the next day at school, walking to class.

"No?" Dil raised his eyebrow.

"My sister got totally beat up by Caitlin!"

"Caitlin?" Dil's eyes widened. "Really?"

"My sister had to stay home from school today." She went on. "She has a broken rib. I think Caitlin got suspended, because I haven't seen her today."

"Idiot." He mumbled.

"Megan says she didn't do anything to Caitlin."

"Megan is a liar. She bullies Caitlin to no end."

"You can't just say such things about my sister like that." Summer pouted. "Why would you believe Caitlin anyway? She's a wild, untamed psycho."

He chuckled and shook his head.

"You just don't get it. Caitlin is the one who believed in me no matter what. When I coward out, she's there to back me up. She's even the one who brought us together. Yet you have the nerve to even utter a single bad word about her?"

Summer was shocked.

"Well, Mr. Lester, if you think so deeply about her, why don't you date her?" She asked bitterly, scowling.

"You know what, Summer Holiday?" He smirked. "I think I will. See you never." He turned on his heel and sprinted out the doors of the school, to Caitlin's place.

"How much did you get?" She asked Walter when he came out the door of his house.

"Enough to last us 6 months."

"Cool." She smiled. She took the huge wad of notes and slipped it into her pocket.

"Let's hurry and get to that hotel before our parents realize we're missing."

Walter nodded and got back on his bike.

"Ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

As they were almost to the hotel, Caitlin realized something.

"Plan on getting a job?"

"Maybe." Walter shrugged. "What about you?"

"I plan on getting a job at a mall."

"Cool."

"There's no turning back for us, is there?" She thought out loud.

"There isn't. I plan on spending my life with you."

"With me?"

"Yes. And leaving our past behind us."

Caitlin was skeptical, and she hesitated answering this question.

"I guess you're right. We'll do this together."

"Always and forever, babe."

The story so far:

Caitlin found out that Megan exposed her and her friends, and beat her to a pulp. Scared of the consequences, Caitlin and Walter ran away together. Dil broke up with Summer, noticing how she didn't care about his best friend and she did nothing about the bullying. Dil realized that Caitlin always stuck by his side no matter what happened, and realized he loved her. Caitlin and Walter vowed to stay together (although they've only been dating 2 weeks).
