I walked into my third house party of the night hyper off of the atmosphere. The police shut down the first house party in an hour. The squad walked into the second one a little too drunk because there was free drinks at the other one. It was a good thing that a couple of us decided to be designated drivers. Now the alcohol wore off a little bit so the squad was a little wild. We were over at Province apartments to crash a UNCG party. Katie found out that there was a party going down, and later if we wanted to, there was a Frat party a few blocks away on tate street. If we every got hungry then we could have gone to tate street then walk a little bit to the frat party.
The house party we were at had foam. I glanced down at my outfit. I was totally not dressed for this party. How did they even get foam to fill up the apartment in the first place?
"I'm going to my apartment to change," I yelled over the music to Khalil.
"I'll walk with you," Khalil yelled back. He tapped Tamesha's shoulder.
"Janiece and I are going to her apartment, we'll be back," I overheard him whisper/yell to her in her ear.
Tamesha nodded her head.
Khalil and I squeezed our way out of the crowd. I took a picture on snapchat on my story line. The picture said it all. It was crowded, people everywhere turnt. It looked like we were having a good time, and we for sure were.
Khalil and I walked out and walked to my party in a comfortable silence even though we were internally hyped. Khalil was still grooving and started dancing and putting a pep into his step. I walked and started spinning and then did a little ch-cha. Khalil grinned down at me and winked. He grabbed my hand and started to salsa as we walked along the sidewalk.
Once we got to the stairs, we looked at each other briefly, then we let go and ran up the stairs. I slapped my door first.
"Beat ya," I said grinning.
"Only cause I let you," Khalil shrugged nonchalantly.
I flared my nostrils and punched him playfully.
I then proceeded to unlock the front door. We walked in to instantly shiver. My roommates, or I should say suite mates since I have a whole room to myself, must have turned on the AC and left it on. I just hope it doesn't interfere with our bill and then we have to pay extra.
I walked to the tv and turned it on for Khalil then tossed my bag on the couch next to where Khalil plopped onto. Afterwards, I entered my room to find an outfit for the foam party. I was eager to go back and started skipping around my room. I picked out a blue tie-dye shirt and found some "waterproof" shorts.
I quickly changed into the outfit I picked out and some dark blue flip flops. I looked at myself in the full length mirror, guess I should put my hair in a messy ponytail. Once satisfied I go back to the living room.
"You ready," I asked.
"Of course," he replied then stood up from the couch. He looked me once over then nodded his head.
"What?" I asked defiantly lifting my chin.
"Nothing, you still look sexy in anything," he smirked and winked at me before turning to the door.
I frowned at his back.
He walked out of the apartment and held the door for me.
"Thank you", I said a bit shyly. I still could not wrap my head around if it was okay for two people who had such a history act anew and flirt with each other. It's hard trying to distinguish between if Khali was just being friendly or if he thought we should give each other a go again.
I was just confused at the "signals". But I shook my head to clear my head because I remembered the movie "He's Just Not That Into You", when the lead male character Alex played by Justin Long said to the lead female character Gigi played by Ginnifer Goodwin "A man who wants to make a relationship work will move mountains to keep the woman he loves". If Khalil was serious about us becoming a couple again then he would have asked me out already to ensure that no one else could. I laughed at the situation that I was in, of course I was just over thinking again. Khalil looked back at me, I waved my hand in dismay. He just grinned and walked on ahead.
I hummed to party in the USA, since I was ready to go to the foam party hyped and free. No need to constantly worry if a certain track star liked me.
When we finally got back to the foam party, I was jumping and hyped, all of my worries left behind. The song was just at the build up to the beat drop and I pushed my way through the crowd and found the crew. I reached them, right when the beat dropped. The grin on my face was wide. Amidst finding the crew, I had lost Khalil. Brushing it off, I decided to just stay with the crew, no need for two people to be lost. I danced, fist pumped, did a little funky dance number then had to find a place to sit from being tired. Being hyped took a lot of energy from me. Nick came over to sit with me as well.
"Tired?" I asked loudly because of the music although he was sitting down right next to me.
He nodded his head and rested his head on the wall with his eyes closed. I looked at him and smiled then proceeded to do the same. I would question how could the turnt up king be tired later. I rested my eyes for one song and suddenly I had energy again. Nick opened his eyes at the same time. "Cha Cha" by B.R.A.M. played and Nick opened his palm for me to take. I took his hand and gave him a challenging look with the raise of my eyebrow and a smirk.
He led me to an empty space and we salsa to the song. Some people cleared a bit of a space. We were putting on a show alright. I could hear our friends yelling out our name in excitement, cheering us on. I sashayed, dipped, spun around and everything in between. It was towards the end of the song and I was spun out by Nick. Before he could reel me in, someone grabbed my elbow. I got a little irritated, but when I looked up, yeah it was none other than Josh who was determined to not let me go.
