Ch-33

As Jade finished creating the barrier, she took a slight rest, leading to a conversation with her mother.

Not being able to contain her curiosity Jade asked

"Mother, if it's not a bad topic, may I know who my father is?"

Jade's question caused Laura to flinch, it took a few minutes for her to answer. Not that Jade minded, she doesn't expect much on the answer. As Laura turns to Jade, her eyes are hesitant.

Jade eyes scanned her mother's behavior, sighing at the sight.

I have a feeling I know where this is going.
I should probably refrain myself from preying.

The words are laced with bitterness and exhaustion. But beneath the surface of her fake facade, a storm raged, a dull ache and disappointment, weights her stomach.

"Now that I think about it. I heard from Roger-san that you were part of his crew, how did that happen?"

Jade inserted, changing the subject.
Laura was taken back but answered.

"O-oh, that......"

As Laura explained her involvement, Jade thought for a moment, then asked

Now that makes me question my birth even more.

As Laura finished, Jade gave her a hard stare. She really couldn't help her habit of deducting unanswered questions.

(Note: You all probably know how the story goes, with Laura, Roger and Garp. So I'll skip that part, hehehe)

Laura sighed in defeat, she then stood up and avoided her daughter's gaze.

"Follow me"

Was all she said, before she started walking.
Jade obeyed and followed from behind no question asked.

Soon they reached the center of the forest, they are now below the waterfall.

As Jade watched the water flow from the high cliff, the scanned her surroundings and thought.

Now that I think about it, I've never been in this part of the forest.

Jade then caught sight of her mother walking behind the waterfall. Which seems to have an entry. She then followed her mother and entered the waterfall.

As she got inside, she noticed that the surroundings may look similar to a cave, but it's dominated by unknown plants. You can see different kinds of flowers, which are rare to see due to the fact that they are high level herbs.

It is quite an extraordinary phenomenon to discover such manifestations. Especially since the sun doesn't seem to reach the area quite a bit, for it to grow. Now this made Jade even more curious,

I wonder what lies farther within the cave.

As the mother and daughter got further inside, they were met with a large door made of golden branches.

It looked very secure, not a living being can be seen on sight. As Laura placed her hand on the leaves made of gold and covered by black strings, did the branches suddenly move like snakes, a few disappeared on the ceiling while the rest on the ground.

Oho~
How remarkable, I wonder who created such a safeguarded room.

Jade's eyes glint, intrigued.

Jade didn't have enough time to analyze the door more as Laura entered inside.
Jade followed soute, soon they were met by an enchanting scenery. The surroundings were dark that for sure, but the small fragments of gold tied on each end of the black strings glows like fireflies, each of the hanging pieces of gold lit up the room.
