It’s exhausting trying to pacify my little one, especially when all he does is cry his eyes out.
But thankfully, he stopped crying the moment his gaze fell on the camels giving rides to other kids and adults.
His big doe eyes sparkled as he stared at them, completely forgetting the reason for his tears. In seconds, he was lost in admiring the camels, his lips parted in fascination.
“Taddaaa!!”
I turned my head to see Rohan walking towards us, holding a sipper bottle filled with strawberry smoothie.
The boy’s eyes lit up instantly. His grin stretched from ear to ear as he grabbed the bottle from Rohan’s hand.
“Are you that happy, having it?” Rohan chuckled, amused by his reaction.
“Yeshhh!” he replied with a wide smile before taking a big slurp. His cheeks puffed adorably, and I couldn’t help shaking my head. Just a minute ago, he was crying, and now he was beaming after one smoothie.
“Champ, do you want to try shooting?” Rohan asked, pointing towards a nearby stall where balloons were pinned to boards and people were busy aiming at them to win prizes.
“Yeshh!” he mumbled again before suddenly leaping into Rohan’s arms, right out of mine.
I froze, a little taken aback.
Rohan held him with ease, strong arms securing him firmly as if the boy belonged there. Without a second glance at me, the two of them walked off together, side by side.
“Hey! Did you both just ignore me??” I called out, annoyed, but neither of them turned around.
What the f— Arghhh!
I stomped my foot hard against the ground, my frustration bubbling over. I couldn’t believe it. They actually ignored me.
I trudged behind them, sulking, my mood ruined completely. Still, I couldn’t leave my son alone with that Gadhero (donkey).
Rohan himself behaves like a kid half the time. How can I let one kid take care of another?
“Yaaaahhhh!!” The boy’s shriek of joy rang out, making me sigh. Rohan had hit an aim, and the two of them were now celebrating loudly like they had just won a championship.
I bit my lip. I was jealous.
I had the right to be, right?
Every time my boy was with Rohan, he forgot about me completely. And honestly, what surprised me more was Rohan himself. He was never good with kids. In fact, he used to get irritated when he couldn’t understand their childish talks.
