When I finally arrived home, my feet tired from walking, I threw my dark grey backpack onto the sofa and collapsed onto it. It felt good to close my eyes and to not have to worry about school work. I loved spring break.
After about a Minuit of relaxation, Ginny walked into the room, her hair thrown up in a messy bun. She had dark bags under her eyes and when she saw me she rolled her eyes.
"Where the hell were you Zoe? " She asked her nose wrinkling.
"I was out" I replied firmly.
"With who"?
"David"
"What? Oh my god Zoe, are you serious? Isn't that the asshole who cheated on you"? Ginny asked, her voice high pitched and dramatic as she plopped herself onto the sofa next to me.
I groaned irritatedly. "Ginny, people change"
"You sure about that"? she asked, snorting humorously as she pressed a pair of dark blue earbuds into her ears.
Quickly I stood up, as I tried to ignore her underdeveloped fourteen year old thoughts, and hurried into the kitchen grabbing a piece of gum from our olive green, cupboards. The silver packaging made a crinkling sound as I slowly unwrapped the bright blue, bubblegum. Just as I was popping the piece of gum into my mouth I heard a loud knock at the door.
"Ginny, can you get that"? I yelled into the other room.
"Why? Don't you have legs"? Ginny yelled back.
Why does Ginny have to be such a brat, I thought to myself as I leaned against the wall.
I guess Ginny had decided to just answer the door because a few seconds later she called for me to come to the door, yelling, and informing me that it was for me.
I groaned as I slowly walked in to the other room. Do I have any time to just, relax? I thought as I approached the door where Harriet stood.
"Zoe, let's go to your room" Harriet demanded as she walked past me, tugging my by the sleeve of my shirt.
When we arrived upstairs I flopped onto my bed. My purple covers were soft and wooly, and I could tell by the scent of flowers that they were freshly washed. My mom was kind of a neat freak, in the way that if I dropped a single crumb of food on the floor she would sterilize the entire house. In someways I enjoyed how my house always smelled clean and new, but in other ways I hated how everything was perfect. Too perfect.
"How could you do this Zoe"? Harriet asked, her dark eyebrows furrowed.
"Do what Harriet"? I asked, chewing on the tasteless substance that the factories call gum. I never understood why gum was so popular if it lost its taste so quickly.
"How could you do this to Corey"? She demanded, her brown eyes begging for answers.
"I don't think Corey minds too much...and anyways I can't help who I fall in love with"
"So your I love with him now" she asked pursing her lips.
"No! I just mean, it's my life! I can make my own choices, even if they're stupid. David and I aren't even back together yet" I said, my voice raised.
"Fine. Just think about how you would feel if Corey started dating Rachel again" she said as she quickly grabbed her light blue purse, flipping it over her shoulder and standing up.
"So is that all you came here to do"? Yell at me"? I asked annoyed.
"Oh Zo, of corse not" Harriet began, as she rifled through her purse.
Soon Harriet was standing in front of me, with a white envelope laying on her hand. Quickly I snatched the envelope away, and opened it, relieving a beautifully decorated pink and white card, covered in small blue hearts."What's this"? I asked as I slowly opened the card.
"It's an invitation"! Harriet giggled, her brown hair falling over her shoulder.
I examined the pretty piece of paper and I felt a smile make its way onto my face. The invitation was to a club where Harriet would be having a party to celebrate spring break. I loved parties, especially Harriet's.
"When Is this"? I asked, amused.
"Next Friday"! Harriet laughed.
"Sounds great"!
"After the party I was thinking, that you, Corey, Jack, Mina and I could have a movie night, then you could all just sleepover" she giggled.
I laughed at her enthusiasm, and nodded my head. "Sounds great Harriet"
Suddenly Harriet's phone rang, and she immediately picked it up.
I saw her happiness increase as she greeted the person who she was speaking to, and almost right away I could tell that the person she was speaking to was in fact Jack."Hey lover"! She squeaked.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
Quickly Harriet turned to me, before she spoke.
"I've gotta go, I'm meeting Jack for dinner" she said, her voice bubbly."Okay, bye Harriet! Can't wait till Friday"! I waved as I watched Harriet hurry down the stairs.
When Harriet left I couldn't help but wonder if I had really made Corey upset by hanging out with David. I thought about it for a while before realizing that he hadn't even tried contacting me that last couple of days, which was very unlike him. Just to make sure Corey and I were on good terms I decided to send him a quick text.
"Hey Corey, I haven't heard from you in a while. I miss you! Are you mad that I'm hanging out with David lately? Your one of my best friends and I would never want to hurt you. If you have a problem with it, please let me know. Love you Corey, respond soon" the text read. Slowly I tapped the dark blue send button, while falling back onto my soft bed. As I land on the soft blankets another poof of the delicious laundry detergent, meets my nose making me very relaxed. Unfortunately for me, my rest didn't last very long, as I was awoken by a loud buzz of my phone. I had received a text, and I quickly flipped my phone over hoping that it had been Corey responding. To my surprise it wasn't Corey but a number of which was very easy for me to recognize. It was David's.
