After leaving David's house, I was planning on riding to Corey's house. Just as I was hopping on my bike I felt my phone go off in my pocket.
Quickly I turned on the screen and saw that I had one new text from Harriet.
"Zoe, where the hell are you? The party starts in 5 minutes"!"Shit" I cursed under my breath.
How could I have forgotten? Even if I had decided to skip the party and go to Corey's, he wouldn't be there. He would be at the party. I guess I could just talk to Corey at the party I told myself as I hopped onto my cold metal bike.Quickly I biked home, and stuffed my bike back into our small shed. Immediately after I ran into my house and up to my room and began to get ready.
My burgundy dress was hung up neatly in my closet, as I snatched it out and threw it on. It hugged my body perfectly as I looked at it in the mirror. Unfortunately for me, my hair was tangled, and messy. By this time I was getting frustrated.I grabbed my frizzfree hair brush from my counter and began to tug on the thick curly strands of hair. When I was finally done combing it I walked back over the the mirror and stared at myself.
"Oh my god! Seriously? My hair is impossible"! I yelled as I threw my bright pink hairbrush across the room.Suddenly a thought crossed my mind, as I quickly walked into our bathroom. From our small cabinet I grabbed a pair of silver scissors, and walked back over to the mirror.
"Good bye" I whispered, as I grabbed a long blonde curl and snipped it off. I've had long hair ever since I was barely able to talk, and it was obviously time for a change. About an hour later, when I finally snipped off the final lock, I placed the scissors on my dresser then walked back over the mirror and examined myself. My hair was cut up to just above my shoulders, which complemented my thin face. I thought I did a pretty good job, besides the fact that there were a few longer hairs near my forehead; it wasn't too noticeable though.
Along with my dress I, threw on a couple of silver necklaces. I really only wore these necklaces on special occasions. I did consider this a pretty special occasion since tonight was the night, that I planned on telling Corey how I truly felt about him. Realizing that I was over an hour late, I hurried downstairs and threw on my favourite pair of shoes; which were my black wedged heels.
A few seconds after I had stepped out of my house I realized, that I had no way of getting to the party. I couldn't exactly bike in a dress so quickly I dialled Harriet's number.
It didn't take long before she picked up, sounding slightly irritated.
"Zoe, where are you"?"I don't have a ride Harriet"! I replied anxiously.
The line was silent for a few seconds.
"Ugh...I'll send Mina to pick you up"I nodded my head, forgetting that she couldn't see me.
"Yeah okay" I replied."Okay, I'll see you soon" she said before hanging up.
I waited a good twenty minutes before I saw Mina's, small pink Toyota pull up. I hurried over, plopping myself into the white leather seat. Mina looked at me for a few seconds before raising her eyebrows and pointing to my hair.
"What? It was too messy" I laughed."What happened, to straightening it"? Mina teased.
I shrugged.
"Too much work"It wasn't too long of a car ride, and the time passed a lot faster since Mina and I had a lot to talk about. I told Mina about all of the David drama, while she listened intently.
"I've always thought that David was A real dickhead" Mina said when I finished.
