Italy: He was literally an indentured servant for his early years in life, his gender was unknown by everyone around him for the same time, and he literally had his first love die at an incredibly young age.
Japan: He's not as innocent as everyone believes. I'll just leave it at that cuz I'm lazy af.
Germany: He's lonely. He literally has his own official song dedicated to how friggin lonely he is. DOITSU IT'S OKAY YOU HAVE ITALIA AND NIHON NOW :3
America: He's incredibly insecure about his weight, and he's actually pretty smart. He just chooses to act dumb most of the time, even when alone, because he's afraid of being neglected.
England: Don't even get me started. He hallucinates because he believes he has no friends or other people to love him, he has ridiculous trust issues ever since the Revolutionary War, and he's always afraid that everyone will leave, even if he acts like he wishes to be alone.
Russia: He was innocent as a kid, but years upon years upon years of wars, horrible leaders, and the general coldness and isolation of the country he represents has given him an incredibly twisted sense of humor that he doesn't realize is scary to everyone else. He's also afraid of everyone leaving him, somewhat like England's fear, except Russia has it worse, because it's already happened to him so many times.
France: He literally had to watch the love of his life die at the stake in a blazing fire. If that doesn't traumatize someone, I dunno what does. He's afraid no one will love him ever again.
China: ...tbh I don't really know... He's seen so many wars, seeing as he's the oldest country, and he's just afraid of outliving everyone and ending up alone for hundreds of years again. Though he's prepared for it to happen, so it's not really that big of a problem.
Canada: He didn't always have glasses, you know. He was gas bombed by (insert some country I can't remember) and it impaired his eyesight. Due to the fact that he's almost always forgotten, that's not exactly his fear... His fear is never being remembered again.
And that's just the Axis and Allies. All the other characters have f_cked up lives too.
