"Right ladies!" Mark announced.
"Mark how many times do we need to have this conversation, do any of us look like we have tits!?" shouted Ashton. And this is when the overwhelming urge to make a prat of myself took over.
"Excuse me guys!" I exclaimed whilst getting up and standing on my chair.
"The lady has a point," chuckled Brad. The rest of them laughed as I got back down. Oh why do I do this!? I looked at Ben and we both smiled and shook our heads at each other.
"Men and ladies, our lead sponsors have had to catch their plane back to America, emergency business or some sort..." Mark began. Thank god they weren't here to see that, I thought. "But Lindsay is the boss of us all now, and I think it's only fair that she says a few words." he finished. I stood up having no idea what I was going to say.
"Firstly I want to say thanks to Mark for not telling me I was going to have to do this, cheers Mark much appreciated. Now all I want to say to you all is, it doesn't matter if we don't win every match, doesn't matter if we don't win the premiership or the Heineken Cup or the LV. I will kick all of your asses but it doesn't matter. All I want you to do is try your best, give your all. I can't ask for more than that. So work hard and play hard, if you know what I mean!" I said and sat back down.
"Mark you've fucking done well here mate. She's one of the lads!" announced Jamie.
"She is, she has banter Mark, well done!" added Mo.
"She does that. But she's the boss. And I believe it's her birthday and she probably wants to spend it elsewhere, she's already spent half her day here and she probably wants to go out and get pissed or whatever." Mark explained. Then I had a fantastic idea, which lead to me standing back on my chair.
"You guys, you have another hour of training, then you go home, get changed into a suit then you come back here and we party hard. You can have the day off training tomorrow." I announced.
"She's the boss!" exclaimed Jackson.
"Mark you said it!" replied Will.
"I like our new boss!" shouted Mako. I couldn't help but laugh.
"On the pitch then boys! You heard the lady!" said Mark with a smile. I swear I have never seen men move as quick as they all did out onto the pitch. I got down and walked over to the girls who were pretty much gobsmacked at what had just happened.
"You're mad." said Lottie.
"Getting drunk with multiple fit men. What the fuck is wrong with that!?" exclaimed Lex, being her usual self.
"We need to go home and get ready then!" announced Lottie as she stood up.
"You guys go ahead I'll be along in a bit, I need to talk to Mark about the match this weekend." I explained. They both nodded and walked towards the exit.
I walked over to Mark who had just finished talking on the phone.
"You're alright with this right Mark?" I asked.
"They deserve it. I'm more than fine with this!" he said happily.
"Great, they are a cracking bunch of lads, I've watched them develop over the past four years, not in the same way you have but you know what I mean," I said to him.
"Yeah I understand you, if you'll excuse me I need to go chat with the med guys that'll be in Twickenham on Saturday. Not long now!" he replied.
"It's been great meeting you Mark," I said to him.
"Likewise, you already fit in, I'll see you Saturday morning, bright and early," he smiled as he walked off. I couldn't have been more happier if I'd have tried. I walked outside onto the edge of the pitch and slowly turned 360 degrees. I was taking in my surroundings. My second home.
