Chapter 3:

Third Time's a Charm...

“...And, we’re out!” Tim, the camera guy, called.

Lynn breathed a sigh of relief. The stress and fatigue of doing a live show was really pushed in the actual hour the show was on, but it was the moment Lynn lived for.

Today, however, her focus was on he who must never be named, and the tequila shots she downed clouded her head a bit. She stared at the notes she made for tomorrow’s show, but it was all a jumble to her. She still made some random scrawls on it though, just to show that she was doing something.

“Lynn, you got a minute?” the associate producer, Tara, asked.

Technically, Tara was her boss, seeing as Lynn was almost like her personal assistant, but she was more a friend than a boss.

“Sure, what’s up?” Lynn asked her, quickly closing her notebook, not wanting Tara to see that she was actually scribbling nothing.

“There is a new art exhibit opening up soon. The artist is a new guy, no one’s ever seen him, but his work has already been the talk of the town. The only contact anyone gets with him is through his agent,” she told her.

“Really, an artist who doesn’t want to be famous?” Lynn questioned

“I know, but his agent says he adamant about public appearances, he’d rather let his work speak for itself. If we could get an interview with him, or a private tour, our ratings would go up,” Tara added.

“You talk to the studio head about this yet?”

“No, I was hoping we could secure an interview first. His agent said that the guy has already decided that we can cover his show and preparations for the exhibit; we just need to convince him to do an interview,” Tara related, “We need to set up an interview with his agent, and see if we can’t sweet talk him into convincing his client to meet with us.”

“Who’s the agent?” Lynn asked her.

“Some new guy,” Tara said, shuffling around her folder, looking for the information, “New to scene, but quite a force, I’m told. Already has four successful exhibitions under his belt... Ahh! Here it is. Yes, Tyler Wilson, that’s the agent’s name. Quite a looker too.”

You have got to be kidding me! Lynn could not believe her luck! That is the third time in one day, ONE DAY, that she’s been reminded about he who must never be named. Was the universe out to get her or something? Is it Lynn parker must relive high school week in the universe?

She was glaring at his picture, one taken from a gallery opening or something. She wished she could smack the smug look off of his face. He really must think that every woman wants him, she thought dryly, as she looked at his dashing smile.

“What? You don’t think he’s cute?” Tara asked her when she caught her look of disgust.

“Absolutely not, he’s a jerk,” Lynn exclaimed.

“Well, I think all agents must be jerks at some point in time, but you can tell that from his picture?” Tara asked her as she squinted at the picture.

“No... I know him, well I knew him. Sorta,” Lynn didn’t elaborate any more on how she knew Tyler. It was really humiliating, and she didn’t want Tara to know that she still hadn’t gotten over something that happened ten years ago.
