Noah

I should have seen it coming. I shouldn't have worked Evelyn up. Now I had made her cry. And it was all my fault she had lost control of her emotions and more importantly, her powers.

Lightning coursed across the sky as rolling thunder boomed above us. Fat sticky raindrops pelted down on us, creating a heavy fog that hid us from passer-by's. As the wind roared like an angry beast the raindrops were hitting the ground like bullets from a gun. Above, the sky was black with menacing rainclouds until the cracks of lightning broke the darkness.

Mum cradled Evelyn in her arms, rocking her back and forwards as she sobbed away.

"It's alright dear, let all those congested emotions out."

Seeing Evelyn lying there so small drenched to the skin and convulsing, reminded me of the day I had found her by the river. Just now I had been so scared something had happened to her when she ran away that I had had gone mad at her. Now she really would hate me. With a start I realised that I had feelings for her and couldn't stand it if something happened to her. When had this happened? I had a girlfriend for goodness sakes. Not that that there was anything special about Brienne. She was only going out with me because I was popular and she was popular; there was no connection between us at all.

As Evelyn lay there so tiny and frail, surrounded by the tempestuous storm she had conjured, I was mentally willing her with every fibre of my being to be alright and not let her unrestrained powers drain her.
