If you didn't know, Monstercat had a contest for people to make a 15-minute mix of Monstercat songs and post it on Mixcloud. The Monstercat team chose the 8 mixes they loved the most (out of almost 600 submissions) and those mixes were played on the 2-hour podcast today. The fans are voting on those right now (Rhakka FTW), and the winner will get to mix an entire episode of the Monstercat Podcast. I was going to enter, but I didn't think I could just use iMovie (what I'm used to) and I didn't want to rush myself to learn how to use Ableton Live in 2 weeks so I basically just gave up eventually. But I had some pretty cool ideas. Including Bloodlip vs. Saiko. (IF YOU STEAL IT, I WILL-) One day I just realized they were in the same key and that they were strikingly similar in both theme and style. So it went into my list of "mashups that really need to happen". (It will...someday...) Well, today I was listening to the podcast, where the contest finalists were previewed, and Rhakka did an AMAZING Saiko drop (best moment in the whole podcast) and then mixed Bloodlip into the climax. I was mad (I thought I'd been the first one to think of that mashup) and thrilled (to finally hear them put together because it was awesome) at the same time. Well then this happened.

Overall, the podcast was amazing. I LOVED the hype when one buildup was mixed into another drop and when samples were thrown around, and there were several times I literally just froze and stared at the screen with my eyes wide and my mouth partially open because it was so awesome. Congrats to the 8 who made it into the finals, good luck (especially to my top 3; they were sick), and to those who didn't make it...you're all awesome!!
