I will not lie and say this has been edited.
And I will not lie and say I haven't been slacking with this story.

I hope you enjoy!

"You ready to stand?"

I sit on the edge of the straw bed my feet dangling as I giave myself a minute just from going from laying to sitting up.

I wasn't going to pretend I wasn't in the most unbelievable pain right now. Because I really was.
But I didn't want him to worry.

He already had that shucking false hope in his eyes that I was going to be just fine and I didn't want to rip that away.

I slowly exhale letting the painful air out my lungs as I use his hand to place my foot on the ground and take a step forward onto the sand.

But when I feel the sand it takes me a moment to adjust and when he hears a gasp on my lips he instantly takes a tight hold of me.

"You good?"

He doesn't waste a second to ask but I'm just feeling the satisfaction of my bare fight feeling all the grains run through my toes.

I've never felt sand in its pure form.
Only when we were running in the scorch.
We never got time to play with it through our fingers or let it run through our toes.

"I just, the sand. It feels nice." I quickly voice and he lets out a breath of a chuckle to my response.

He continues to take my hand for me to place my weight over him and his arm around my waist lightly guiding me towards the door.

When I take the first step, all I feel is the shooting pains from my stomach wincing in pain.
Fuck I didn't know it would hurt this much.

"Bird we can sit down whenever you want—"

"I'm good." I force the lie out my mouth just needing to see that fresh morning sunlight to hit my face.

It's like victory when my slow steps finally make it out the door but I hold onto Gally more tighter than I think I am.

Because it no longer is physically painful, but I'm starting to realise the people I have to face.
I have to face Minho.

I have to face Frypan.
My sister and Luke.
Even Brenda.

I don't even realised I've stopped, it's Gally who's held a firmer grip on me stopping my train of thoughts.
"You good?"

"All good grumpy."
I shoot him an assuring smile and he just rolls his eyes but a little glimmer returns on his face.

"So grumpy is back."
He sighs as if he doesn't totally enjoy it.

"Oh it never left baby."
I laugh along as I continue to walk depending solely on him to keep me upright.

I see them crowded around what looked like a dead fire, they were crafting something, honestly I didn't know what they were doing.

I'd woken up in a place we now have to call home.
I just hope it was permanent this time.

The moment I get closer I see one gaze shift. And it was Brenda's.
She'd noticed me instantly as her eyes go so wide.

"Blake!"
She yells out to alert everyone else as she rises to her feet.

Surrounding her was Jorge and Frypan who immediately lift their gazes to look towards me.
But it was Luke Avery and Minho who had their backs towards me.

The moment they heard Brenda's yell I see all three of them twist their head as if it was lies they were hearing.

But all of them rise the moment their eyes are linked with mine.
But they rise so slowly trying to take it in.
