Sooo it's me again! I've missed these two a little too much. So, I decided to put together a little Halloween special for fun, just something to bring them back for a bit. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it!

The apartment was dimly lit, the orange glow of campus bleeding in through the half-drawn blinds. A horror movie played quietly on the TV—the kind with fake blood and jump scares you could see coming from a mile away. The bowl of candy Shidou had bought "just in case" sat untouched on the coffee table, its neon wrappers catching the flicker of the screen.
Sae, legs stretched out and hair slightly messy, looked like he hadn't moved in an hour. His expression was as unreadable as ever. Shidou dropped himself onto the couch with a thud, his usual lack of grace shaking the cushions. The bowl rattled. Sae didn't even flinch.
"Yo," Shidou drawled, slinging an arm lazily over the back of the couch before letting it fall around Sae's shoulders, his fingers brushing the collar of Sae's hoodie. "You know what day it is?"
Sae's eyes flicked to him for half a second, then back to the screen. "Our anniversary?"
Shidou blinked, thrown off. "No, it—" he paused mid-word, brows furrowing. "Wait. You don't know our anniversary?"
"I'm fucking with you, Shidou. Obviously today isn't our anniversary."
Shidou stared at him for a second, processing the dry tone, before letting out a laugh that cracked the quiet. "You're an ass," he said, bumping his shoulder against Sae's. "Okay then, genius, what day is it?"
Sae's brow furrowed. "Uhh..." He looked toward the clock on the wall as if that would help. "The thirty-first?"
Shidou groaned, throwing his head back dramatically. "Come onnnn," he whined, giving Sae a little shake by the shoulders. "It's Halloween!"
"Oh," Sae replied flatly, deadpan as ever, "don't care,"
Shidou froze, arm still draped around him. "...Are you deadass right now?"
Sae blinked at him, unimpressed. "What?"
"You don't care about Halloween?" Shidou said it as if it were a crime.
Sae shook his head, his tone calm, unbothered. "Never really celebrated it"
Shidou's brows furrowed in exaggerated disbelief. "Never? No costumes? No candy? No scaring the living hell out of people for fun?"
Sae gave a small shrug, his eyes still on the TV. "Not really my thing."
"Well," Shidou said, shifting closer, that familiar grin creeping onto his face—the one that spelt trouble in every language, "there's always a first."
Sae's lips twitched like he was fighting a smile. He turned his head slightly, just enough that his gaze flicked toward Shidou's. "Yeah, you're right," he said, voice smooth and low, the kind of teasing tone that made Shidou's heartbeat pick up without him realising. Then, almost lazily, he tugged him closer until Shidou could feel the faint rise and fall of his breathing against his chest.
"Next year," Sae murmured under his breath, quiet enough that it could've been mistaken for a throwaway comment.
Shidou let out an incredulous scoff, pulling back slightly to look at him. "Next year? Come onnnnn, not next year—now!"
He leaned in, eyes glinting with excitement. "How about you're a cop, and I'm a prisoner?"
That earned him a side glance—one of Sae's perfectly unimpressed, almost bored ones. "Are you just saying this so you have an excuse to be handcuffed by me?"
