His Smile

The world had always known darkness, The Shades that lurked in every corner, whispering lies and feeding on fear. But when he came, things began to change.

His arrival was a link to something greater...

The Archons wore their crowns with pride, but He was Crownless, unbound by the rules and expectations that governed others.

His smile was a rare sight. Some believed that if he did not appear, perhaps the world wouldn't be like this. If he did not smile, maybe the tides would not turn, and the earth would not shake.

But the truth is... the world had been failing from the start, its rot hidden beneath a veneer of order. His arrival was not the cause of its troubles but a response to them.

As he walked among the ruins of civilization, the earth trembled in response. The seas rose, not in anger, but in anticipation. The heavens themselves seemed to hold their breath, waiting for the outcome of this new era.

...

...

The Time walks over, offering him a small smile.

"It's been a while, Supreme One."

Her giggles reached his ears. The heels echoed throughout the emptiness as it approached him. Then with a swift motion, The Life wraps her arms around his waist. Her smirk grew wider.

She leaned in, aiming for a longing kiss. But before it could happen, Rimuru's body phased through her.

"Not so fast."

He turned around.

"How cold of you, Supreme One."

The Life smirks, mocking him. But with just one glance Rimuru already knows her plan. A kiss that could read one's memories. And he knew what kind of memories she was looking for.

"Do not search for the origin of words. Consider it a gentle warning. Because once THEY set THEIR eyes on you... I don't know what would have happened."

But she dismissed his warning with a small laugh of mockery.

"Aren't you also one of THEM? Then it should be easy to deal with."

Rimuru could only stay silent, not wanting to engage her in another conversation.

He was fighting himself... his face looked like it could explode at any time. He was struggling to hold back his laughter. Fortunately, no one noticed it.

Shifting his gaze, Rimuru's eyes found their way with The Death.

A fiery anger seeped through her gaze, and he could feel it. He could only avoid eye contact.

Then he shifted his gaze back to The Time.

"What's with all this? What do you want from me?"

He asked, staring at her as he waited for an answer. The Time smiled as she tilted her head.

"Nothing in particular."

She replied, her voice hummed through the air. Rimuru narrowed his eyes, and he let out a heavy sigh before turning around.

"You're driving me insane."

As he was about to leave, The Life stepped in...

"I wouldn't recommend going back if I were you."

Her tone was low, and a hint of mockery seeped out of her lips. This caused Rimuru to turn around as he fixed his gaze on her.

"What are you talking about?"

The Life smirks grew wider.

"The moment you enter this place, every connection, relationship... everything that makes contact with you is reverted back to its original state. As it was."

She smiled, her tone laced with venom.

"You're messing with history a little bit too much.

"Then why would you give them a history to begin with?"

He replied. His question rang through the air.

The Life fell silent after the question. The Time tilts her head, unable to provide any answer.

Then, The Death walks in. Her heels echoed, a scream of horror singing behind her.

"That's because of you. If you hadn't smiled upon this world, everything would be fine. As it should be."

The Death stares at him, but this time there is no anger in her eyes. But something else...

"Five hundred years ago, not only did you create a fake scenario for those people, but you also stole the curse from me. Do you still not understand?"

Knowing the implication behind her words, Rimuru snarled in annoyance. He turned his back and started walking away.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. I'm leaving this shithole."

"I told you. You can't. The moment you enter that world, the entire structure of it would crumble immediately. There can't be two laws."

The Life explained to him.

So that makes sense. "Teyvat has its own laws." And if he tried to enter the world... the two laws would clash against each other, fighting over control.

It's either he destroyed the world... or the other way.

The realisation dawned on him. But he just shrugged it away.

"So, it's either you go back to where you came from. Or..."

The Life lets the word hang in the air for a moment.

"Or you stay here. Fulfil your duty."

Hearing that, Rimuru turns his back once more, and he shoots her a confused look.

"Don't play dumb."

The Death said.

"You ate them, didn't you~?"

The Life smiles as she crosses her arms across her chest.

"Ahhh, blah blah blah! I don't know what you are talking about. Goodbye!"

He disappeared, and there was a panic in his voice.

"What a shame."

The Time finally opens her mouth, her expression saddened.
