"Bhabhi… yaha toh har baar aap help kar dete ho, vaha kaun help karega meri saree pehnane mein?" Vaani pouted softly as Shrishti helped her drape the piyari for the further mandap rituals, right after the varmala.

(Bhabhi, here you always help me… but there, who will help me wear my saree?)

[That piyari...the yellow saree a bride must wear before the sacred rituals, sent lovingly by the groom’s family.. in UP wedding felt like the final thread tying her old world to her new one.]

Shrishti raised a brow with a mischievous smile, her hands steady on the pleats..."Kyun? Tumhari do..do pyari saas hain waha… aur agar unse sharam aaye toh pati dev hain na… tumhe pehnane ke liye bhi...aur- "

(Why? You’ll have two lovely mothers-in-law there… and if you feel shy with them, then your husband is there, no? To help you wear it too..and-)

"Haww… bhabhiiiiii!" Vaani gasped instantly, her eyes widening, cheeks turning crimson as her heart skipped.

Shrishti laughed, her fingers carefully tucking the pleats in place.

Flustered, Vaani quickly tried to change the subject, her voice hushed and nervous. "Ye Anya aur Swati ko dekho… gayab hi reh rahi dono. Bataungi inko baad mein."

(Look at Anya and Swati… both missing from here. I’ll scold them later.)

Shrishti only chuckled at her attempts, shaking her head fondly.

Finally, she stepped back, adjusting the drape and letting her gaze settle on her sister-in-law glowing in that auspicious yellow. "Kitni sundar lag rahi hai Vaanu tu… apne sasural ki piyari mein."

(Vaanu, you look so beautiful… in the piyari of your new home.)

Her words made Vaani’s heart pound harder. Shrishti gently turned her towards the mirror. The girl who stared back at her wasn’t just Vaani anymore... she was someone’s bride, someone’s forever...His Forever The realization made her blush even deeper.

Shrishti carefully took a red chunni and placed it lightly over Vaani’s head. Then, with a tender smile, she took kohl from her own eyes and touched it behind Vaani’s ears.

"Bhagwan tum dono ko har buri nazar se bachaye."

(May God protect you both from every evil eye.)

Vaani kept staring at her reflection, her fingers nervously clutching the edge of the saree, heart hammering louder with every second.
