Maddie's POV:

I brought Rebecca down to this secret lab and stopped at a table.

"I found this place seven months ago and it looked really abandoned so I started messing around with some of the old chemicals lying around. It seemed safe...ok, maybe not completely safe but I was just being crazy. I found this bucket and it was entitled DNA samples. I added some of that to the chemicals I had mixed together and then I decided to taste it for who knows what reason. It tasted like...cotton candy...and grapefruit. It was really delicious. When nothing happened at first I just thought that it was a harmless drink. But then about three weeks later I began having morning sickness. I went to the robotic nurse and it was confirmed that I was pregnant." I explained to Rebecca truthfully.

"So you never...you know..." Rebecca gave me an awkward look.

"Oh god no. I would never do that." My face turned red at the very idea.

"And I'm supposed to believe that that medicine you made...gets women pregnant without the help of a man." Rebecca looked skeptical.

"It's the truth." I replied and placed a hand on my belly. I opened a fridge that was in the lab and took out a beaker of bluish liquid. I had made several beakers full of the medicine after my amazing discovery.

"Is that the medicine?" Rebecca scrunched her nose up at the liquid.

"Yep, do you want a baby Rebecca?" I asked eagerly.

"Um...no...I'm good." I noticed that Rebecca didn't seem too sure about her answer.

"Well if you ever change your mind...the medicine is right here." I told her and then put the medicine away.

Rebecca nodded and eyed the fridge curiously.

"I should get home now...my mom will be worrying about me." Rebecca told me and then went back to the elevator.

Rebecca's POV:

"Where have you been? I didn't see you in the lounge where you usually would be." My mom blurted out as soon as I got to our room.

"I was just with my new friend, Maddie." I explained.

"Oh you made friends with her? Isn't she fourteen and pregnant?" My mom looked appalled.

"Yeah but she didn't get pregnant in the way that women usually do." I said simply. I'm not sure if I really believe what Maddie told me though.

"Ugh... I don't want you hanging out with her. She's bad for you." My mom looked stern.

"What?" I looked baffled.

"You heard me. Now go get ready for bed." My mom replied and then got into her bed.

Ugh! If dad was here he wouldn't let mom be so strict! Unfortunately he died from a disease back on earth five years ago. It still saddened me.

I got ready for bed, brushed my teeth and my hair and then got into bed. My mom was so unfair and strict. If only there was some way to act out to make her really upset with me.

That's when I sat up in bed. I knew the perfect way to lash out at my mom.

I tiptoed out of our room and down the halls to the elevator. I went down to the secret lab Maddie had shown me and opened the fridge.

I took out a beaker of the bluish medicine and set it down on the table in the lab. I was still doubtful of Maddie's story but if the story was true I'd be able to really make mom mad. This was my act of rebellion.

I took the beaker in my hand and drank the liquid until there was none left in the beaker.

Maddie was right. It did taste like cotton candy and grapefruit. I grinned and put the beaker away. I then went back to my room to sleep.
