Estrella, John B, Sarah, Charlotte, and Kie had been walking around all night in search of JJ. Cleo left them a little while ago to check for any updates on Pope. The group walked back into town and John B whistles, "Oof. This place is trashed."
"Jesus." Kie mutters
"JJ's long gone. We should get out of here."
"And go where?" Charlotte sighs, "They're probably already bulldozing Poguelandia."
"That means JJ's slashing tires." John B says
"That's actually pretty likely." Kie nods
John B turns to Sarah, "Hey. You okay?"
"Yeah. I'm... I'm... I'm... I have to..." She stammers, "You know, I'll be right back."
The group watches as she walks off into one of the wrecked stores. John B turns toward the girls with furrowed brows. Kie shrugs, "I don't know."
Charlotte looks over at Estrella, "Estrella?" The girl turns to her and Charlotte raises her brows, "You okay?"
"Um, no, I'm not." Estrella admits, "But I'm trying to think."
"About what?" Kie asks
"Where JJ is." She says as if it were obvious. Which to her, it was, "And about Pope and how to fix it."
"There's no fixing it, Estrella. We have to wait it out with Pope." Kie says, "It's none of our fault."
"I know that. None of this would've happened if Luke wasn't a fucking asshole." Estrella says
"She's not wrong." John B sighs, "His dad comes back and the next thing you know, sells the house right out from under him to the Kooks of all people. I mean, Luke makes my dad look like the father of the century. That's crazy to think about."
"And he might not even be his..." Estrella sighs as she turns away
"What?"
Estrella turns back to them and shakes her head, "Nothing."
The three watch her walk off. Charlotte turns to them, "I got her." John B nods before Charlotte follows her, "Estrella."
"I wanna be alone right now, Charlotte."
"I know that, but I really don't think you should be." She says. Estrella stops and turns back to her, "I just want to check on you."
"I just- I need a second."
"I know." Charlotte nods, "I get it, okay? Your best friend is caught up and your boyfriend is god knows where. But none of it is your fault."
Estrella shakes her head, "None of this was supposed to happen. If Luke wasn't such a piece of shit, JJ wouldn't have reacted the way he did. And, god, Pope. I don't even know why he did that."
