The lost triplets

chapter 80

As soon as James found Alex and Skye they rushed over to him. He had found them in Alex's room doing homework,  Alex had been in the middle of talking about football and Skye wad trying to listen but she didn't understand. She  had asked a few questions wanting to be supportive.
When they saw James the conversations stopped.
Alex took James' bag from him. "You're ill you shouldn't be carrying anything " he stated.

"You should go lie down" Skye said worried for James.

"I just wanted to let you both know I'm back" James whispered.

"He took care of you right " Alex fussed as both Skye and himself led James to his bedroom.

"Yes, Lorenzo is great " James whispered.  He was hesitant to say it but today really showed him how much Lorenzo cared.

Alex smiled, he was thankful for Lorenzo.  He no longer had to be the eldest. He trusted Lorenzo with Skye and James.

"Are you going to be okay Alex" James asked now they were in James' room.

Alex didn't know if he would be but he wouldn't let James worry when he was ill  so he nodded "yes of course " he said with a smile.

Back when they were with the gang,  when Skye and James got sick, they would torture Alex, they would blame him. Being sick was never a good experience for them as it meant the beatings were worse. But for Alex, the torture got out of hand sometimes. 

"I think this time it will be okay" Skye said.

"Yeah me too. Lorenzo got me a blanket and let me sleep he didn't punish me when we were alone"  James said.

James started to cough and out of instinct Alex put his hand over James mouth to muffle the sounds .

He quickly realised and removed his hand "We're not there anymore " he whispered mostly to himself.

"I'm going to sleep but once I'm awake I have gossip " James said wanting to tell his siblings about Jessica.

Alex nodded and both he and Skye tucked James into bed.

"It's different this time Alex" James mumbled as he drifted of to sleep.

Alex knew it was different. He trusted Lorenzo but he didn't fully trust the others.

He had muffled James coughs because last time when James was ill,  he coughed and they heard. They threatened to cut out Alex's vocal cords if they heard anymore noise.

When Alex and Skye left James’s room, they heard shouting straight away and it terrified them.
It seemed to be Rafael shouting .

Alex was shaking as he tried to comfort Skye. He would get them back in Alex’s room and they'd be safe.

Only Marco appeared. He had finished in the gym and was heading to his room when he spotted Alex and Skye .
He had ignored the shouting knowing it was just their dad and probably a business deal gone wrong.

"It's okay, you're both okay" he was quick to comfort them both seeing Alex try to be strong hurt him.
He took out his phone and messaged Lorenzo telling him to come to where they were. .
"Alex, Skye you're okay, breath with me" he  needed to calm them down.
He knew Skye some what trusted him so he hoped she would calm down .

Alex on the other hand flinched away "please don't hurt her, you can hurt me instead " he found himself saying.

That broke Marco.

"Never Alex. Can I give you a hug"  he asked.

Alex didn't realise he had a choice so he nodded.
Marco hugged him tight "you're safe, I'm sorry for everything " Marco comforted.
Alex was tense but after a moment he relaxed into the hug.
Once he was calm enough, Marco opened his arm for Skye to join who had already calmed down.
"I've got you both"  Marco told them.

Lorenzo appeared "what happened " he asked once the hug was over. He didn't want to disrupt the hug.

"The shouting" Alex mumbled. His head down. He was slightly ashamed of how he acted.

"It's over now. Listen " Lorenzo said.

No shouting could be heard.

"What was it about" Skye dared ask.

"A business deal, nothing to bad" Lorenzo informed them.

"You're safe" Marco murmured.

"No one in this house will hurt you again" Lorenzo said firmly.

He looked to Marco.

"I won't ever again" Marco told them.

Alex nodded. He still didn't trust Marco but he understood him. The trust was growing.
