When they got home it was quiet. The shouting had stopped.

"I'm going to go see if dad is still here" Lorenzo said, it seemed too quiet .

"I'll do it" Leo said not wanting Lorenzo to deal with everything on his own.

Lorenzo was hesitant but nodded. He didn't have it in him to put back the pieces of a broken family right now.

"Okay. I need to do some work. If anything happens,  come find me" Lorenzo told all his siblings .

Lorenzo was drained and once he saw all his siblings were okay he left to go to his home office.

It wasn't like his parents were abusive towards him or his siblings growing up. It was just tiring being the eldest sibling when their mum was around.

Rafael was a man who demanded respect. He was a powerful man who didn't take no for an answer, but he did love his wife.
However, she was constantly trying to start arguments,  sometimes it worked. Sometimes, it didn't.
It wasn't little things either.

She knew one of the things that got Rafael angry was anything to do with their children's welfare.

Lorenzo being the eldest, he had  understood more and knew what was going on. Before his siblings came along, his parents would tuck him into bed, but he would lay awake listening to them argue.

It was damaging in its own way.

And as Lorenzo had gotten older, the arguments got worse.  He became a big brother and he took that role very seriously.  He made sure his siblings didn't know how bad the arguments could be.

Their mother was a sensitive subject for Lorenzo.  Maybe it was because he knew what happened that day.
Hid dad never explained it in great detail, but he had seen his dad that day.

Lorenzo had heard a loud bang and had rushed to his dad's office to make sure his parents were okay. He normally wouldn't get involved, but this time, he did.

His dad looked furious. He had only seen his dad this angry when the triplets were taken, it wasn't too long ago, really, and he supposed the arguing had got worse.

He saw his mum had a smirk on her face "You deserved that, if you hadn't have said such cruel words I would not have done it "

His dad had a red mark on his face. It didn't take much to realise what had happened.

Rafael had confronted her about cheating. He knew she had been but finding his triplets was the priority, his kids needed their mum right now, so he hadn't said anything until today.

And when he did, she hit him.

Rafael had been shocked at first but that soon turned to anger.

"Are you okay dad " Lorenzo had asked

"Yes. Leave us Lorenzo " he  had spoke in a deadly calm voice.

Lorenzo knew not to ask questions. He complied with his father and left.

"You don't ever hit me" Rafael had said in such a deadly tone that it did scare her a little.

"You deserved it,"  she had replied.

"Get out of my house. You are not welcome here anymore, " Rafael said. He couldn't trust her to be around the kids.  They had been arguing a lot lately, but things never got physical.  He would never hurt her, but she hit him and showed no remorse.
He knew the arguing was bad and maybe he should have left long ago but now that things had turned physical he would not let his sons be exposed to it. He would not endanger them.

"Don't worry I'm  leaving anyway, Mike is waiting for me"  she said.

Rafael had scoffed "so that's his name. He won't stick around long when he realises the type of woman you are"

"Fuck you Rafael" she shouted and threw a vase at him. Rafael wasn't hit as he moved out of the way but he watched the vase smash against the wall.

"Get out of my house" Rafael wasn't even going to entertain her.

"Maybe I should file for full custody of those brats" she said. She did love her kids but she knew calling them brats would annoy Rafael.

"Try it. I dare you. " Rafael would not let another child be taken.

She rolled her eyes and left. She didn't bother saying goodbye to her children.

Rafael sat his children down that night and told them he had confronted her about something and she left. He had wanted to protect them from the truth,  it didnt take them long to find out as several weeks later she sent her kids a postcard, it was a picture of her and her new boyfriend.

Lorenzo was tired. He didn't want his mum here. He knew he should really stick around in case his siblings needed him. But he needed to get out of the house. Just for a little while.

He sent a quick message
Meet me at my apartment

And he recieved one back almost as quick.

I'll be there
