...Attacked...

After the weekend had passed, I got back home and laid down on my bed. As soon as I was about to fall asleep Rachel came running through my door taking my hand into hers and dragging me to Sam's place. Jake was laid down on the floor next to a bonfire while people danced and sang.

"How long is it going to take?" I asked.

"For him to phase?" Paul asked and I nodded. "A couple of hours, three max."

"How does your transition work?" Rachel asked.

"Uh well you have to kill someone and the curse gets triggered. Every full moon you turn," I explained.

"Well lucky you,"

"No. Not  lucky, people have a misconception about wolves and their transitions being all roses and daisies but it's not. It's painful. Not only do you have to live with the guilt of killing someone but you also have to live a life where you can't even control when you want to turn or not,"

When the third hour finally arrived the transition took place. Jake screamed in pain and I rushed to him but Sam held me back.

"You don't want to be near him right now," he said to me, his transition reminded me of the first time I had to phase even though I haven't phased in over 1000 years. I calmed down and he let me go. Jake's body distorted and things moved. Bones broke and disfigured. He was on his hands and knees now, his ribs cracking like dry twigs and they shifted in his legs.

In blink of an eye he lunged for me and scratched my face before coming back for my leg.

"Get him away from her and take her to the hospital!" Sam shouted. I couldn't scream because that would have only made the pain worse. In all the years I'd lived, this had probably been the only thing that hurt me more than my mom stabbing me in the eye. Paul opened the door and asked for Carlisle specifically. I was put on an operating table and the only words I heard from Carlisle were. "Oh dear,"

He just left me there while my body tried to fix itself but being mauled by a dog meant that it would take some time.

When I awakened I looked at the ceiling and heard the annoying sound of the monitor. I didn't feel anything because I was already better but no one else knew that. I struggled to move to the edge of the bed but when I managed I wiggled my toes. I looked at myself in a mirror. I felt fine but I looked like a freak show. I had noticed now that I had a neck brace and plaster on my left leg. I removed the blood transfusion patches from my arm and walked out of ICU. There wasn't any light so that made me presume that it was night time.

My neck brace made it hard for me to look down and the braces began to annoy me. My apparent injuries kept on piling as I became more conscious of what had happened to my body. I carried on walking but I couldn't find my way around. I pretended to limp for the sake of the humans around me and for the sake of my cover. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going but all I knew is that I was being pulled to something. Something was drawing me to it.

"Selene Chasley Kate Swan!" I heard voice said.

"Ms Swan you're not supposed to be out of bed. How did you get of ICU?" he asked. Carlisle picked me up took me back to my room. I needed to get somewhere but they wouldn't let me.

"You need to stay in bed we don't need you hurting yourself more than you already have." After a week I was released from ICU and my parents came to visit me.

"How bad is it?" my dad asked.

"She's better. She's currently in the safe zone. Her brain looks fine now. Her injuries are healing quite quickly," Carlisle said with a smile.

"How she's still alive is a mystery and a miracle we are all grateful for. You are going to be here for the next month and are going to be in a wheelchair for two. You are occasionally allowed to walk around but only to places like the kitchen if you're downstairs and the bathroom," Carlisle said.

"Can I go out?" I queried sarcastically and played along waving my left hand.

"For short periods of time with someone you know. I doubt you will because you will be under some heavy pain meds," he said. "Have a good night. One of the nurses will come to check up on you frequently" He said.

"Thank you." I said.

Everyone eventually left and I was left alone. I heard humming and I sighed before opening my eyes. I saw a woman above me with a dagger and I grabbed her neck. "You try that again I will kill you and trust me he won't save you,"
