"She just texted me, she said she's on her way!" Shawn yelled up the stairs.
"Okay, I'm ready."
"Her place is literally five minutes away, so she'll be here before you know it."
"Alright, and I'll be ready for whenever she gets here."
I watched Shawn from the top of the stairs. He was wearing his gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt, in which faultlessly flattered his body. As he sunk into the couch, his feet resting on the footstool, you could see in his simple expression that he was panicked about what was to come.
Three soft knocks resonated throughout the house, obviously alarming both Shawn and I.
With broad eyes and a blank face, he glanced up at me.
"You got this, go answer the door, Shawn!" I constrained, shooing him towards the front door.
He nodded, slowly pivoting on his heel to face the front door. His shoulders rose and fell as he took a deep breath, reaching for the shining gold doorknob. The door swung open to reveal Evelyn, standing there. A white crop top and black leggings garnished her small, curvy body, her hair falling in loose waves down her back.
"H-hi Evelyn." Shawn stuttered.
I quickly scooted out of their range of vision. Keep in mind, this was all part of a plan.
"Hey, Shawn. Can I come in?" she said, her squeaky voice distant. Honestly, I wondered what it would be like to have such a high-pitched voice, for mine was deep and dark, yet it had a melodic tone to it.
"Oh, oh yea, of course. Come in." he said, stepping aside to allow entrance.
She strode inside, swaying her hips as her bold blue orbs of eyes wandered aimlessly around the room.
"Sit down, did you want anything to drink?" Shawn offered.
"Got any beer?" she asked. Risky question, I suppose.
Shawn just looked at her, his eyes reading the words,"Are you being serious?"
After a second her mouth opened, as she realized he wasn't going to give her any alcohol. "Never mind... That's not what I'm here for anyway."
She sat down on one end of the couch, as Shawn sat on the other end, watching her.
"Then why are you here?" he asked.
She made an uncomfortable squeaking noise that made me cringe, before she responded to Shawn's question.
"I wanted to work everything out. I miss you. It was stupid for me to cheat on you and then break up with you, and I still love you, Shawn." she retorted. That was my cue. But, as a spontaneous idea, I decided to make a small twist to the plan.
I quietly cleared my throat as I began to prance down the stairs, in nothing but my red athletic shorts and my black bra.
"Hey, Shawn, have you seen my blue shirt I was-- Oh! Who's this?" I said, acting as if I didn't know what was happening.
Due to the sudden change of plan, Shawn was surprised at my shirtless-ness and just stared at me, so I repeated my question. "Shawn, who's this?"
"Who are you?" Evelyn said in a sassy tone, the jealousy decorating her voice satisfying me for some reason.
I flopped down, onto the couch beside Shawn, his arm draping over my shoulders.
"Evelyn, meet my girlfriend, Olivia." he introduced, a contented grin on his face.
"Yep, that's me." I said, nodding.
He smacked a gentle kiss on my cheek as I got comfortable beside him.
"G-girlfriend?" she questioned, in shock.
"Mhm," I hummed,"But enough about me, who did you say you were?"
"I'm--" she began, but I cut her off.
"Oh wait, I know you! You're the bitch who cheated on Shawn, right? The one that totally betrayed him then dumped him like it was nothing? Yea, I already knew that." I snapped, as Shawn stifled a laugh.
Her jaw dropped. "What the hell?! Wait, you were the girl from Starbucks that one time! Wow. No wonder you were so interested in what I have to say." she rolled her eyes.
"Yea. Anyway, what are you doing here?"
"Well I was going to take back what's mine, but I guess I don't have to. Glad to see you downgraded to this bitch, Shawn." she practically squealed as she stood up.
Shawn quietly snickered, shaking his head.
Evelyn glared at him."Why are you laughing?"
He looked up at her and leaned forward as intimidatingly as he could manage.
"I find it funny that you think I 'downgraded,' when you were the one so entirely desperate to fuck your brother's best friend just because your own boyfriend wouldn't do it with you."
She gasped and reached her hand out as if she was about to smack him, but Shawn quickly took hold of her wrist before she could do anything else. She let out a yelp of pain as she struggled to free her wrist.
And then, through gritted teeth, he growled,"And don't you ever call Olivia anything like that ever again, because she is the best thing that ever happened to me, and you could never amount to how amazing she is. Now please, there's the door, get out of my house, and never talk to me again."
She snatched her arm away from his grip as she stormed off towards the door. "Have a great life, assholes." she shouted sarcastically. She then slammed the door shut behind her with all her might (which wasn't much at all.)
Through the window in the living room, leading out to the driveway she lifted her hand, shooting her middle finger up at both of us before she climbed into her little blue car and angrily sped away.
Shawn and I both just sat there, watching her drive off before we finally reacted to what had previously happened.
"Nice call on the whole 'no shirt' thing." he remarked with a smirk.
"Oh, thanks," I chuckled as I got up to walk up the stairs and get my top, in which was lying on the floor.
"I guess that played out all right." I said with a sigh.
Shawn examined me as I pulled my shirt back on."Well, I don't think she'll be showing up randomly anymore."
"That's good." I agreed.
"Now, how 'bout we go see a movie?" he suggested.
"Let's do it." I laughed. And then that's what we did.
