My eyes fluttered open to a very bright room, confusing my internal clock. Wasn't it night? Wait, where am I? What happened? I brought my hand up to my neck, feeling on the smooth skin that was normal. As my eyes began to adjust, I found myself to be in my room. "Lillian?" Damien? My eyes searched the room, and I found the dark haired boy sitting on the edge of my bed. "You're awake...I was afraid he drained you..." Drained? "What happ- ah!" This fire built up in my throat, and by instinct, I hauled myself over to the edge, coughing. The pain wouldn't cease and my jaw began to ache. "Lillian! Breathe..." He said softly, easing me into a steady breathing. I stared up at him, feeling the pain grow. "What's happening to me?" It was the only question I could ask, and it was the only one I really needed to know. "You're turning...into a uh...vampire..." I almost wanted to laugh, but there was no sign of play on his expression, and for some reason, he was scared. "I'm...a...vampire..." I slowly let the words roll off my tongue, feeling the childishness in it's vocabulary. I shook my head. "Alright!" Damien's eyes widened, shocked by my sudden outburst. "Wake up Lilly. This dream is a little too ridiculous." And scary... I breathed hard, in and out, as the pain only grew, even worse in my gums. He stared at me confused. "Lillian. It's not a dream." He said, leaning in as he wrapped his hands on my arms. "It's a dream. This cannot be real. Watch, I'll wake up. Any moment now...Come on Lilly." My eyes locked on him, "I know how to wake up!" Confused, he tilted his head a little with wonder. I leaned in and pressed my lips on his. Now wake up...oh no... I fell into his kiss and found it to be too real. I jumped back, slamming against the wall. He chuckled, smiling as his head dropped in his laugh. "I'm sorry!" I said, looking down as I tried to hide my blush. "Don't be. Now listen, we need to hunt or you'll starve." He slowly stood. "Hunt?" "Come on." In one swift movement, he lifted me in his arms, darting through the window with ease. So...is he? We ended up in the forest just up the road from my house.
He let me down, standing close to me. "I'm sorry..." He stared softly into my eyes, smiling a little. Sorry? He brushed his hand gently across my cheek to my chin, lifting it up until our lips locked. My eyes were wide, he was kissing me! After a minute or so, he released his gentle hold, smiling at me. "I had to do that again..." He smiled wider, kissing my nose softly. I couldn't help but giggle. "What is that...that...smell...?" The taste buds on my tongue burst with energy, and I swung my head back and forth, trying to find the source of this sweet scent. "Go after it." With his words, I did. I raced after the smell, feeling myself move much faster than I ever did before. Darting through the dark dense forest, my ears came into contact with a heart beat. I looked around, and found someone sitting on the ground, dressed as a hiker, tending to a wound on his knee. "Blood? That's what I smell?" "Yep. And now, I know this will be hard but...feed." "Feed?" I looked at the person uneasily. "No I can't..." "You have to." He nudged me forward, making me almost trip. "Dammit..." I walked over to the man, behind him, and drew myself up to his neck and dug my teeth into him in one swift moment. A short scream of pain came from my poor victim, but all I could focus on was the plasma running down my throat. I could feel it trickle down my chin, and my heart raced.
When my animalistic instincts faltered, and my consciousness grasped the idea that I was feeing off of a human being, I dropped the now deceased body and jumped back. I touched my lip, staring at the blood that transferred onto my fingers. "I..." "I know. It's a horrid feeling...you'll get used to it." Damien hugged me, letting me push my face into his shoulder. "Am I a monster?" "Of course not, it's like...eating raw meat." "It's cannibalism." I said, pulling back from the hug. "Technically, it's not since you're not human." "Ha ha, very funny. So...vampire? Garlic? Sunlight? Holy water? Um...doors?" "Eatable, burns and very deadly, drinkable, invite only." "Ow! My eyes!" They began to burn, and I felt weak. "Shit, sunrise." He picked me up, darting back to my house.
Standing on my porch, I knocked on the door, after finding I couldn't get through my window. Tucker opened the door, yawning. "Lilly? What the hell?" "Let me in." "Door's open." "Tucker! Let me in!" "What? You can't walk?" "Dammit Tucker!" I looked back, noticing the sun rising quickly. "Just come in, jeez." I darted through the door, shutting it. "Thanks." I ran upstairs, as normal as possible, rushing to my room. After closing my door, I faced Damien, who was pacing my room on his phone. "Thank you so much, I'll see you soon." He hung up, rushing over to me. "Are you alright?" "Yes, took him long enough to let me in though." He chuckled, smiling. "Are you alright with skipping school?" "On the third day?" I pretended to be horrified at his words, and giggled as I kissed him softly. "Yeah, why not." He smiled at me, kissing me as well.
