The days passed by quickly after that. Colten and Bella were staying at Damien’s house, and after all that happened this winter break, Michael continuously checked up on Krista. My mom and I hung out a lot, and I’d tell her about how it is to be a vampire and Krista showed her her more controlled wolf form. It was one hell of an experience this winter break, but today was Monday, and today was the beginning of the second semester. And unfortunately, it was also the day of the welcome back pep rally.

I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, letting my bangs fall on the sides of my face. I knew I was going to get yelled at but I only had on eyeliner and lipgloss. The cheer uniform, which we were told was mandatory for the day, was composed of a white cut off elbow length top and white skirt with lines of silver and blue along the straps and skirt, and the letters C S on the top. I groaned as I looked myself over in the mirror, this look did not suit me at all. I pulled on my favorite blue sweater and slung my bag on my shoulder and headed downstairs and out the door. Damien picked me up this time, and with the windows down to his car, he whistled at me playfully. “Oh shut it.” I said, slipping in through the window, tossing my bag on the floor at my feet. “Well, aren’t I lucky? Dating a cheerleader.” I looked over at him, “What is this, a cheesy teen flick? Just drive bat boy.” I said, laughing. He chuckled, driving off to school.

The halls were filled teenagers sharing their holiday stories. Although, I don’t think any of theirs could beat ours. We made our way through the hall to our spot, where few students lingered. Bursting through the doors, I cheered “Hello supernaturals!” Which I instantly regretted as I didn’t see any of my friends but about four students making their way down, giving me strange stares as they passed me and walked out. “Well, that was just great. Where are they?” “Oh right, they said they’d be out by the field.” Damien said, smiling as I glared at him. We headed out to the field, where Seth and Michael were tossing a football while Emily watched and Krista was stretching. “Hey guys!” I shouted, scanning the field to see a couple of people, and they were preoccupied so I vampire ran up to Krista, tackling her. She grabbed me by my sides, throwing me over her. I landed on my feet, laughing. “Our strength is such a plus as cheerleaders.” I said, smiling as I joined her in stretches.

Eventually, the bell rang, and we all headed to our first classes. Reunions were all that was happening in every classroom. “Hey Krista.” She looked up from where she was sitting, noticing the extremely popular and super hot yet incredibly narcissistic quarterback standing by her desk. “Matt. What’s up?” “You look pretty hot in that uniform.” “Thanks...” She said sarcastically, looking back over to me. He leaned on her desk, smiling ridiculously. “So, let’s go out for drinks after the game this friday. I’ll drive us there in my new mustang.” “Ooh what color?” She said, playing along. “Black baby.” “That’s so sexy...” She whispered, sarcastically, which he didn’t quite catch as he smiled even wider. “Just like you, babe.” “Yeah, that nickname is kind of reserved for someone else. So can I go back to my friend now? Thanks.” She turned back to me, rolling her eyes. He put his hand on her shoulder, turning her back to him. “That someone else is me. Now, plant one on me honey.” “Excuse me?” She scoffed, standing up as she pushed him off. “Give me a kiss, bitch.” He said bitterly, grabbing her by her face. “Take your hand off me or I will break it.” She growled, glaring at him. I quickly jumped in between them, pushing him back. “Back the fuck off, ball boy. Leave her alone.” He glared at me, but noticed that everyone had gotten silent as the teacher walked in. He shrugged, sitting down in the chair beside Krista. We sat down, and I looked at her, her eyes beginning to glow. I kicked her chair to get her attention, giving her a ‘calm down’ look. She nodded, breathing slowly. Her eyes returned to normal, and she smiled over at me, mouthing, “I’ll kick his ass at the game.” I chuckled silently and returned my attention to the board, pulling out a notebook and getting started on notes.
